After seeing the truck slip away into the distance, Eric wore a grim expression.
He had volunteered for the task, but he didn't want to risk everyone's lives for it, so he had to be very careful. Information and intelligence were going to be especially important. And luckily for him, Andy was like a walking map and encyclopaedia. Many people die not knowing why. If he was with Andy when he died, Eric felt he would at least know the reason.
The signalman’s name was David Smith. He was a quiet guy who kept himself to himself. The guys in his squad didn’t know too much about him, other than the fact that he was great at his job. After witnessing their interactions throughout the day, he had a certain amount of respect for Andy and Eric, and was willing to stay with them.
