Merrin District was a suburb of Kings City, more than 90 km from the downtown area. Modern agriculture was the main industry, which was why the Logistics Force 1726 was set up there. The organic vegetables and ecologically raised livestock were used as inputs for the army’s food supplies.
There weren’t many zombies around as they drove. It was a cloudy, windy day. Although it was summer, the landscape was bleak. There were few signs of life to be found anywhere.
The ubiquitous plastic bags and discarded food packaging on the streets showed signs of human activity in the past few days. A huge billboard was stuck in a tree, supported by a branch with a dark, charred bark.
There were no human beings left now though, just a few small groups of zombies screaming on the streets.
