I awoke a few hours later to find myself alone in bed but I could hear someone in the kitchen. Sam and I had managed a shower with lots of stray hands and tongues getting in the way before brushing our teeth with the same toothbrush, putting on shorts—he borrowed a pair of mine—and cuddling back under the covers. I looked at the clock on the bedside table and saw it was a little past midnight. I got up and padded to the kitchen to find that Sam had raided my freezer. I’d bought black cherry frozen yogurt this last grocery run, and he’d found it.
