22: Piran Piran Casey got back to Piran a day later, even though he already knew what she’d say. He’d watched her meeting with Macklyn through the sensors in the main man’s office. Then she left it three hours before seeing Piran, so he had to fake his disappointment all over again. “I’ll keep trying,” she said. “When things change, I’ll ask again.” Piran almost believed her. Even though he didn’t reckon she’d tried very hard the first time. “You can still work without being down there, right?” Casey continued. “You’ve still got access to the code, haven’t you?” “Told you, it’s not the same.
