step1: A girl search for happiness. She becomes an addict, thinking it holds the happiness she seeks. But it all is a dilemma. She finds out the answer lays within herself.
step 2: A girl, Ava searches for happiness. She becomes an addict, thinking it holds the happiness she seeks. But it all is a dilemma. She finds out the answer lays within herself.
Why is she finding happiness?
Because she didn't felt happiness in her life. Her family was a mess because her foster parents fought all the time. It was all she saw in her life. The stress was unbearable for her. As a coping mechanism, she became internally numb at feelings such as love. This created a hole in her heart. That is where her unhappiness comes from. But with her naive nature towards her own feelings, she fails to see it.
What is she addicted to?
Many. The addictions change in each phase of her life. When she was a child, she was a book addict. it turned into a fantasy addict. then a romance addict. Perfectionism and regret. Thinking addict. Until she got stuck in her own head.
Why did she not find her happiness in all the addictions?
Addiction made her reality fogged. It made her blind with pleasures & stagnant plans which with a little effort would be a reality. Because of her addictions, she failed exams and social work. her life got boring. She found it hard to focus.
How did she find the answers lie within herself?
The question "What do you like? What are your goals?" triggers something inside her. She tries to find answers inside her but, fails. She got hit by an inner barrier. This leads her to her new obsession with finding a solution. She walks around searching for an answer. She finds an old book and reads it. It gives her hope. She follows the steps of the book and finally sees light.
STEP 3:
Ava's home
Ava keeps reading a lot. She fantasizes about everything about her and her future. Ava knows she performed badly in her exams but, kept her mouth shut nevertheless. She dislikes it when her dad (foster father) starts his wrath. He has a habit of repeating every wrong a person did until the person gets brainwashed. No one knows how she is a reading addict. They saw it as a good habit. She also had a series of addictions she passes through each day when she gets tired of one. She also doesn't socialize or step out of her house much. Ava passes her exam with average marks but still not good enough for her dad. Her parents decided so many paths she could take but, she doesn't feel enthusiastic at all. Dad makes her take the revision class for repeaters to do the exam again. She follows his orders.
On her way back from a revision class
One day, while she was mulling over it she accidentally knocks into a stranger. The stranger, Christopher asks her what's wrong and for some reason, she found herself rambling her doubts. Christopher listens to her till the end and asks the very question she dreads the most.
"What do you want to do?"
Ava looks at him dumbfounded. She had no answer for it. So, she shrugged and answers, "I like um...Nanotechnology. But I'm not sure anymore. My dad thinks my future is to be a doctor. I guess he's right. What do I know anyway?"
The stranger shakes his head in a no. "This decision is for you to make. This is about your future, not theirs."
Ava keeps thinking about what he said. She tries to come up with something she likes and fails. This leads her to search like a mad lady. She starts reading a lot about life and the mind. She fought hard to understand herself but becomes confused by the different contents.
She meets Christopher again reading a book in a cafe. She sits beside him. They have small talk. Ava tells him about her difficulty again. He smiles and hands over a book to her named "Finding me." It draws her attention at once. He lets her keep the book. Ava starts reading the book immediately. She enters into the world of the book. She feels as if the book was written especially for her. "I feel as if the author wrote about me." She lifts her head and finds Christopher gone. She sees it is near sunset and heads home.
She starts reading the book obsessively. She tries to follow the book. It makes her do things she never thought she'd ever do. It leads her through adventure. She realizes things about herself that she didn't know before or thought wrong.
She starts to get better. When her parents and siblings realize what she's doing they become an obstacle for her. She had to go through few major withdrawals throughout the process. She stumbles and falls. Get up and try to move on.
She never got to complete the book yet. But she learned that the most important out of all is commitment. It is not an overnight success but a gentle lifelong process. She embraces it all and moves on towards originality. Towards the end of the book with her heart filled with new excited feelings-curiosity and expectations.
