Chapter 3: Question (3) *** ‘I shouldn’t even bother confronting him about it… It’s already too late…’ Jayden thought to himself as he showered, the hot water managing to make him relax only slightly. Yet the tension in his sore muscles was not giving up on making him feel miserable. ‘Should I go to massages?’ He wondered to himself as he pressed on his shoulder, a sharp pain ran though him as he did so. Soon after he went out of the shower and the two men were already dressed up. “I’ll be leaving now so-” Travis was interrupted by the other male’s words. “No, stay… There’s cheesecake down stairs.” Jayden said as he welcomed the man to stay a bit longer. “Um… I…” Travis had zero idea why he was being welcomed since it was obvious his friend had already seen everything. He turned to look at Anthony who had an expression that was no less surprised than his own. ‘What the Hell is happening…’ he wondered. * * * After they all went down stairs, Jayden calmly cut three pieces of the cheesecake and placed them in plates, serving everyone on the table. Anthony stood there glaring daggers at his lover. “Is this a joke?” He finally spoke, his anger was obvious. “What is?” Jayden asked in an indifferent voice. “All this… the cheesecake… you pretending like you didn’t see us there…” Anthony couldn’t comprehend what was happening right now. “What do you want me to do? Get angry… Kick out Travis… Kick you out? What should I do exactly…” Jayden asked as he looked down at his cheesecake. “…….” Anthony stood there silently as he watched his lover’s lifeless eyes. “How long have you known?” “I don’t know when I found out… it was so long ago…” Jayden said as he took a bite from the cake. ‘It tastes bitter…’ He thought to himself. “So you knew and you didn’t say anything?” Anthony continued to talk as if he wanted to get in an argument with his lover. “You just let all this slide for so long?!” His voice gradually became more and more agitated as he spoke. “Ah… I didn’t feel like saying anything.” Jayden answered truthfully, yet that honest reply only served to anger the other even more. “You… didn’t feel like it?!” Anthony yelled. “Yes, it was too much of a bother.” Jayden said, then continued eating his cheesecake. “This is exactly what I hate about you!” Anthony yelled as he pushed away the plate with half eaten cheesecake off the table. As the plate hit the ground, it shattered and the cake would leave a strain on the carpet. “Exactly because you don’t care for anything I do… Not who I sleep with, not where I am… You don’t care what happens to me, now do you?!” Anthony continued to yell at his lover who was deathly calm. “Do you care what happens to me then?” Jayden asked as he looked at his lover’s eyes. “What are you talking about?” Anthony asked in a confused voice, he wasn’t expecting to be questioned. “Nothing… it was silly of me to ask.” Jayden looked at the ground where the remainder of his cheesecake stained the ground. Looking at the shattered plate he spoke again. “Do you think we could stick the pieces back together?” “What…” Anthony looked at the ground and understood the man was referring to the plate. “Of course not, it’s broken you idiot.” He answered the man’s question. “I see… You’re right… it was stupid of me to think I could recover something that’s already broken.” Jayden stoop up and turned his back to the other. “You should leave then. If there is no hope for this relationship to last, there is no reason for us to continue struggling like this.” “You’re breaking up with me?” Anthony asked while standing up as well. “What else? Pack your things and leave now.” Jaden said firmly to his ex-lover. “You can’t kick me out, we’ve been together for 11 years. Are you kidding me? Where would I even go?” Anthony asked. “Go live with Travis, you two obviously get along better than we do.” Jaden said in such a tone that seemed to carry no weight with itself, yet his words hit hard. “No, wait! Jaden! You’re not being serious, right? Tell me you’re not being serious right now!” Anthony demanded while following after his ex-lover that climbed up the stairs. “I already told you to leave, what’s so hard to understand about that. You’re the one that broke it off in the first place…” Jayden said. “I won’t do it! I can’t accept this!” Anthony yelled as he pulled at the other’s hand. However that caused the other to loose his footing and fall forward. “W-wait!” Jayden didn’t even have time to realize he was falling as his vision darkened. He fell down the stairs hitting his head hard on the ground. “This… is awful! Call an ambulance!” Anthony yelled as he saw his ex-lover bleeding from his head. Travis didn’t really understand the situation but did as he was told and called the ambulance. Jaden was taken to the hospital soon after…
