The car jolted over yet another pothole, and I tightened my grip on the steering wheel. The long, winding road felt endless, each twist and turn in the mountain range mocking me. Drake sat silently in the passenger seat, likely picking up on my foul mood. Smart of him to stay quiet.
It wasn’t just the road or the lack of progress that had me teetering on the edge. My parents had been mindlinking me incessantly since we left. “Do you have your suit?” “Have you finalized your speech?” “You’re two days away from becoming Alpha, Damon!”
