Max’s POV I was planning to keep my distance and make sure she was okay, or maybe I was lying to myself when I said that, but everything went out the window when I saw that punk kid pull a gun on her. I pulled my own weapon out of my glove compartment, checking the magazine quickly to ensure it was still full before getting out of my car. Kicking myself for parking so far away from the clinic as I rushed in her direction, hoping I wasn’t too late. But to my surprise, by the time I got close enough to intervene, she already had the gun in hand, and the offender had run off. So I didn’t scare her.
