Chapter 10 Hannah pulled at the weeds in her mother’s old flower beds. They were choked with weeds, mostly chickweed and horsetail. The chickweed was easy to break free, but the horsetail was another matter. Bright green with the appearance of a horsetail poking out of the ground, horsetail grew in swaths and took over if unchecked. She had learned from her father that the w**d was ancient, the plant’s eons on earth evidence of its hardiness. The roots ran deep and were strong and interconnected. She cursed its strength.
