Chapter 3

I stand, isolated in the desolate room beside the screeching walls. The entire sight giving me flashbacks of haunted memories, memories that I can remember with poignant clarity. Should I go to the police? Who else can help me? But what if the police acts just like the hospital staff? Can I believe them? Can I trust anyone belonging to this crooked town? Contemplating on my options, I decide to call Tucker. He's the only one I can trust, I've known him for all my life. I dial his number. He picks up as soon as the first bell rings. " Hello, Tucker? I have- " I spit out but my words are cut in short. " Oh Ellie, this is Anna. " I hear a high-pitched sound on the other side of the phone. " Where is Tucker? " I question my heart racing due to the on growing anxiety. My voice breaking down, my throat completely dry. " He is right beside me! " She exclaims in a joyous voice. " Can you please pass the phone to him? I have something important to tell him. I don't have much time to waste Anna! " I howl in frustration. " God, why are you screaming at me? " She whines. Taking it on herself. " Hey Ellie, what's the rush? Why are you getting mad at Anna? " I heed a low-pitched voice this time, quite deep, and manly. It's Tucker! His voice acts as solace to my on-growing anxiety and I de-stress a little. " Tu..tucker something bad ha..happened. I need you here...with me. " I sob, not able to complete my sentence, breaking down in the middle. " Are...are you alright? Ellie where are you? " He asks frantically, getting apprehensive. " At home..." I reply and cut the call. I sit down at the edge of the bad, looking here and there. Are mom and dad alive? Did he kill them? I am left alone, yet still accompanied by my thoughts. Reflecting upon where life went so disastrous. My train of thoughts is broken by a sharp pinching noise. A knock resonates through the hollow wood and my heart starts hammering. What if he is back? " Open the door, Ellie. It's me. Tucker." a gentle voice bellows. I skip down the stairs and open the door promptly. I open the door to see Tucker and Anna. In a state of unconditional vexation. I end up hugging them both for dear life. These are, after all the only two people I know and the only two people that came to comfort me. I let them in and then explain everything. They listen to me studiously. After listening to the entire tale of tragedy, Tucker decides to speak. " Do you know who they were? " He asks concerned. Looking at me with keen eyes. " I... don't know Tuck. They were a lot but they had a boss who was quite distinct. They were listening to his orders. " I state, as much as I could decipher from the grim event. " He...He was forcing my dad to say something on the phone call. " I state further, trying to recollect my vivid memories. " Do you remember anything more? " Tucker asks desperately. " We need more information to identify that man and get him behind the bars. Come on Ellie. Try to remember. " Tucker encourages. Wanting to get my rapist punished. He is a true friend! " Mafia! They were from the mafia. Tuck, they said that the Mafia spares no one. They were getting revenge for something my dad did. " I exclaim! Excited over the newfound knowledge. " Ma..mafia? " Tucker asks a little scared. Anna's eyes also go wide as saucers. I nod in confirmation. Not able to understand the immense fear that reflects in their eyes. "There is no Mafia in Oizys except one. They control all sorts of gangs. Each goon or gangster is under them. No crime can take place without their permission. In short, what happened to you was approved by them. Once they approve something, it no longer remains illegal. They are the law, Ellie. You can not go against them. Forget what happened to you and be happy your still alive. I know this town and what goes on here." Anna remarks coldly. " How could you say that as a woman? I'm not afraid of them. I'll go to the police. I'll file a case. Just because everyone fears them doesn't mean I have to. " I state boldly, offended by her statement. How can I just forget what happened to me? " She is only saying this for your benefit. Your father went against them, Ellie. This was plotted by them. Don't dig your grave any further. " Tucker states with the same tone. All sympathy is lost for me. His expressions become neutral. " Who are they? " I ask in a dreadful voice. I want to know the names of the men that ruined my life. " They are the Stanley twins. Elijah Stanley and Stephen Stanley. " Tucker and Anna announce together. I notice immense fear, even when taking their mere names. " Are they Gods, Tucker? " I ask, looking straight in his eyes. Demanding an answer. He shakes his head in negative. " Very well then, because I only fear God. I'm going to the police. " I state. Both of them just shake their head at my insanity, but to me this is mettle. "You're hopeless. We can't help you. Sometimes bravery is naivety, Ellie. You can not destroy pure evil. Don't be naive because it will cost you your life. " Anna warns and with that said both of them leave. I thought at least Tucker would help me out, but no! He backed off. I was always there for him, and this is how I am getting repaid. The best thing about the worst time of your life is that you get to see the true colors of people that once mattered... I grab my things and leave the house. I reach the police station soon. There I see the sheriff that used to visit our house when we first shifted. " Sheriff Sandy! " I call out. He looks at me, astonished. " Ellie dear I heard the news of your parent's death. He was a great officer, sadly the robbers took an incredible officer from us. Do not worry child, we raised a ten million dollar fund for you. It will be used to fill your necessities." Sheriff Sandy states expecting me to be happy at the news of an enormous amount of money. I just look at him depressed. " They were never robbers, to begin with. It was planned murder. I know who they were! It's all done by those Stanley twins. I was raped and my parents were killed! " I scream in frustration. " Did you get hit on the head or something? I investigated it myself. It was a robbery gone wrong. Nothing more. " The sheriff says, trying to nullify my case. I scoff at that. " How much money did they give you? " I ask straight up. And the sheriff's eyes go wide. " How dare you accuse an officer on duty! " The sheriff bellows. His voice losing the gentle touch. His face consorts to a rough expression. " Just like you dared to sell yourself for a few dollars you swine " I reply with the same attitude. Furious at the unlawful dealings going on in this place. My parents were brutally murdered, I was raped and I can't even punish my wrongdoers. Instead, everyone is trying to protect them. Rather than guilt in his eyes, I am met with a tight slap on my face. My face tilts due to the shock. The sheriff just slapped me! " Someone get her locked up. Her mind will be set once she goes behind the bars. " The sheriff shouts his face as red as a tomato. Steam blowing off his ears. I am roughly shoved in the jail room. I wail for a few minutes. I call out to them, to let me go. But my pleads fall to deaf ears. After 10 minutes, I tire down. I sit in the corner and start weeping. My anger now fades away and is overtaken by immense pain. Pain from this state of helplessness. Time goes by in the jail when I hear the screeching noise of car breaks. Loud footsteps can be heard. The thud only increases with time. The sudden noise giving me anxiety. My eyes fall on the pair of jet-black leather shoes. My gaze travels up, only to be met with my doom. The same man that raped me is standing in front of me. An expensive coat covers his body and his cologne can be smelt from a mile. He holds a chiseled face and an unreadable expression. His dressing sense screams money and he holds a powerful aura around him. Making me shiver in fear. A yelp escapes my lips, remembering all the horrid things he did to me. " I'm glad you remember me Mikros. " The man states, smirking at my reaction. I look at him horrified. My body starts trembling in fear, flashbacks of the previous night come crashing in. " Yo..you...he..he is the o..one! " I exclaim. Trying to get someone's attention. My gaze then travels towards his hands, where he holds some dangling keys. He follows my eyes and smirks at what I'm looking at. " These...are the keys to your locker. " He states, with a malicious grin. At this point, all my bravery fades away. The man himself holds a dominating aura and an evil expression. He inserts the keys and strides in. I scoot back to the corner, pushing myself in the brick-hard walls. " So you remember me. Do you also remember last night little one? " The man asks shamelessly. His voice holding a playful tone. As if he is toying with me. I look at him, astonished. " You shouldn't have come here. " He warns, losing the playfulness in his voice. His orbs go dark and he stares at me with an intimidating gaze, as if boring holes into my soul. He slowly progresses towards me and I push back towards the wall a little further. Finally, he stands right in front of me. He raises his hand, and I whimper closing my eyes. " Scared? " He implores. I open my eyes to see that I am caged in between his bulky arms. The degree of proximity between us becoming greater and greater with each passing second. He stands so close that I can inhale his minty breath. " Why come here when you fear me so much Mikros? " He inquires. Absorbing the terror smudged in my eyes. " Or is it to grab my attention? " He asks with a grin. My eyes go wide at that statement. Why would I want his attention? " You murdered my parents. " I state. " That I did. " He replies proudly. " You ra..raped me. " I accuse. " I won't deny that either. Besides, that was the most fun part. " He states, eyeing my body with a lustful gaze. " Why did you do that? Wh...what wrong did my parents do to you? What wrong did I do to you? You've ruined my life. " I accuse, weeping. Feeling completely helpless. " Your father messed up with the wrong people, he messed with the Mafia. He had to pay the price. But poor you...got dragged into something you knew nothing of. I can make amendments for you Mikros. " He states with a husky voice, he extends his hand forward. Caressing my cheek gently. The same cheek Sherrif Sandy slapped on. " Don't touch me! " I seethe, his touch burning my skin. " And why not? " He asks boldly. Now caressing the side of my breast through my shirt. His strong hands pressing on my soft skin. " Because I said so. " I state, adamantly. He isn't bothered in the least though. " Whose going to stop me, Mikros? " He asks, chuckling. His hands snake down south and he reaches the hem of my jeans. " If you comply and be a good girl, I'll reward you. If you insist on being a bad girl, you'll get punished. " The psychopath comments, molesting me. Yet again. This time, I'm conscious and I will not let him use me. I will no longer let my fear boost his ego. I push his hand away from my jeans and raise my hand to slap him. But, before I can do so. My tiny hand is blocked mid-air. He grips my hand in a vice-like grip. " I just stopped you from making the greatest mistake of your petty life. Don't you f*****g raise your hand on me or it will have consequences. Do you understand Mikros? " He asks, incredibly peeved by the fact that I tried to hit him. He looks at me, expecting my apology. When he doesn't receive one, he increases the pressure on my wrist to a point it might break. I pull my hand away with all the strength left in me and spit right on his face. His body stuns a little, and I take that as a chance to run to the other side of the locker, which isn't very far away. He wipes the saliva away, and when he opens his eyes. They are blood red. The hue of his eyes screams one thing, Murder! Whose? Mine! " I NEED THE SHERRIF HERE, NOW! " He booms. His voice echoing around the empty walls, falling to my ears like thunder to the ground. The sheriff scurries towards my locker whereas I stay glued to the wall. Why do I feel like I made a mistake? " Why is there a red imprint on her cheek? " He asks, menacingly. " I..sir..s..she..." The sheriff tries to come up with an excuse. Within seconds, the man takes out his pistol and shoots the sheriff in his leg. The sheriff wails in anguish yet no other officer approaches the scene. Afraid to piss him off. " You do not damage my property without my permission Sandy. This will help you remember. " He rages, all his wrath falling upon the officer. The officer in a state of unconditional suffering still nods and apologizes. Careful not to piss the Stanley Twin off. He then takes a sharp turn, looking at me furiously. " Bad news for you Mikros. You just became my property. I own you from now. " He threatens, eyeing me from head to toe. A malicious grin plastered on his face. His eyes portraying the immense fury he holds inside. If looks could kill, I would be six feet under. He then leaves without looking back, smacking the door of the locker shut. The sound of the smack shakes up my entire existence and my body trembles in fear. " He left..." I mumble to myself. He claimed me as his property yet left without causing any harm. " Don't be stupid. He's coming for you. Enjoy the last few days of your freedom because you're soon going to be enslaved by the Stanley Twins. " The Sherrif warns, his voice lacking any humor.
