SHREYA ZACCARIA MONTEZ POV…. I listened through the comm system that I tapped in my father's office as Carmine planned his grandeur enthronement to my father's seat in the underground world. It wasn't enough that he took my father's life, he decided he was going to reside in the Montez family home, my blood boiled as I listened to him. It had been a month since the hooded figure beat me to a revenge plan and during these past weeks, I had done my best to lie low and not draw attention to myself. I wait, patiently like a predator stalking its prey "Another shipment was stolen yesterday, boss" I smirked while Downing my liquor, I heard something shatter through the comm and I laughed, how would he be a good Don if he was too hot-headed? "Antonio, what shipment was stolen " I heard Carmine bark at Antonio "The weapon shipment boss" I removed the earpiece from my ear, tuning out after hearing him release a string of cuss words, I was different now, A month was enough for me to mature and realise my mistakes. I walked down quietly to the dungeon downstairs, I stayed in my secret safehouse, no one except my father and I knew of this place. I opened the door silently, grabbed a bucket of water and poured it on the fucker who was strapped to the chair The cold water snapped him awake, his eyes bouncing up and down. He was one of my men who sold me out to Carmine. "You're alive." I nodded, walking over to the tools I had set up to torture him, tonight his screams would bounce off the walls. I watched the blood flow down my hands as I absentmindedly washed my hands, I still didn't feel better, torturing and killing the ones who hurt my family didn't make me feel at peace or ease, just tortured me some more. I put the comms back in my ear as I listened to the plans being set up for Carmine Ascension to the top, for someone whose businesses I had been cutting off, he was still at the top of the food chain. "Men from the Montez family have been going missing," Antonio said to Carmine They finally noticed the missing people, but it took them longer than "Do you think it's Shreya" Antonio had a strong gut feeling that I was alive. I had seen him snoop around my old safehouse and warehouses. "She cannot Antonio" Classic Antonio, trying to cover up his fear, my existing threatened his seat in the mafia, so he was hoping I died. I smirked hearing him take a deep breath before telling Antonio to find clues about the missing me, the trails we're going to lead them right back to me. I loved the game I was playing with them, I felt in control of my actions and theirs and I revelled in it. I continued listening to their sham of a plan as I planned for the big night, that prepared for them. As the night of Carmine's grand casino event approached, I found myself feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. It was the perfect opportunity to strike, to bring chaos to his carefully orchestrated affair. I had planned everything meticulously, gathering intel from my spy network, the same one that had led me to burn Carmine's cocaine shipment with the Russians. The plan was simple – infiltrate the casino, hijack the surveillance system, and expose Carmine's darkest secrets for all to see. It was the ultimate act of revenge, to strip him of his power and expose him as the monster he truly was. Shaking off my doubts, I focused on the task at hand, disguising myself with a wig and glasses. Stepping out of the shadows, I hailed a passing cab. My heart raced as I climbed into the backseat, giving the driver instructions to take me to the glittering casino where Carmine would be celebrating his rise to power. But little did I know that fate had a different plan in mind, a plan that would collide with mine in the most unexpected way. As we drove through the city, my mind raced with thoughts of my impending actions. Would I succeed in my quest for vengeance, or would Carmine find a way to crush me once and for all? The uncertainty weighed heavily on me, but I pushed it aside, determined to see my plan through to the end. Suddenly, the cab collided with an oncoming car, startling me out of my reverie. The impact sent my body crashing against the seat, my head spinning from the unexpected jolt. Glass shattered around me, and the screech of tires filled the air. Panic gripped me as the reality of the situation sank in. Without thinking, I unbuckled my seatbelt and flung open the door, escaping the wreckage as quickly as I could. As I stumbled onto the busy street, I looked around for any sign of the other vehicle involved in the crash. And then, I saw it. A black sedan, dented and smoking, its driver's side door swung open. And there, standing beside the car, was none other than Carmine Romano himself, a look of shock and rage etched on his face. Our eyes locked for a brief moment, and I realized that the collision was no accident. Someone had set this up, someone who knew the depths of my plan and wanted to stop me at any cost. It was a betrayal that cut deep, a reminder that in the world of underground power plays, trust was a luxury we couldn't afford. But before I could react, before I could confront Carmine or make my escape, the sound of approaching sirens filled the air. The authorities were on their way, and I had precious little time to make a decision. Should I confront Carmine and risk being captured, or should I disappear into the night and abandon my mission? As the sirens grew louder, I made a split-second decision, fueled by the fire of vengeance that still burned within me. With a surge of adrenaline, I turned on my heel and dashed towards the nearest alleyway. I couldn't let them catch me, not when I was so close to achieving my ultimate goal. Leaping over obstacles and navigating the labyrinthine streets, I disappeared into the darkness, leaving behind the chaos and uncertainty that had unfolded. The collision had thrown a wrench in my plans, but it hadn't extinguished my determination. I would find another way to bring down Carmine, to expose his crimes and make him pay for what he had done. And as I vanished into the night, my mind raced with new strategies and escape routes. The collision had been unexpected, but it hadn't broken my spirit. This was just a setback, a challenge to overcome on my path to vengeance. The game was far from over, and I was more determined than ever to emerge victorious.
