Chapter 4 - What girl?

1223 Words
Ayla POV Darkness and pain, it was all I could feel. I had a surge of energy flowing inside me and suddenly it stopped. I couldn't open my eyes, and when I tried to move, my body felt like being held by stone blocks. I took a deep breath trying to figure out where I had fallen. I concentrated my senses trying to pick anything, but I got nothing. I tried to move my wings, but they were GONE! I panicked, the strength of an Angel comes from its wings. The grandeur they were, the more power they held, and mine were magnificent. A silent tear fell from my cheek. I am in an unknown place, my dad is dead, my mom captive, my sister's missing and my wings are gone. I heard steps, and I just wished my battered body could move to safety, but it was almost impossible. The fall and my lack of strength made me an easy target. I cried, hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. This night has turned into a complete nightmare, and what happens next will suit the momentum. Meaning things will go from bad to shitty. I stood still and suddenly as the steps came closer, vines and bushes grew up from the ground, concealing my presence from the imminent threat. The scent carried by the wind was faint, but it was pretty distinctive. Ashes… I fell into the Dragon Realm. I panicked, dragons don't take a liking to outsiders, dragons are concealed and mean. They don't spare anyone's life. It is said that their king is vile and has a heart as hard as stone and he is as emotionless as ice. Fear… I am as good as dead here… and with that in mind I curled in my hiding, waiting for the steps to retreat. I was lucky to not be found today, but What about tomorrow? **** Morning came and the sounds of the birds woke me up. This place is quite different from the Angel realm. Last night I cried to sleep, mourning my father's death and feeling sorry for our destinies. The first rays of the sun hit my face and my stomach grumbled. Time to go, and search for food. I stood up and noticed my dress all torn. I missed my wings, but I have no time to grovel over that. I came close to a bush of berries and started picking them up. Suddenly a soft voice said behind me. "Dear, those are poisonous…" I turned around and saw a middle aged woman followed by a blonde younger one. I gave her a court nodd and then she continued. "Here, come with me… I can feed you in the castle." She said, extending her hand to me. I curled away and she looked at me carefully. "You are not from around. Come with me before Tyron finds you." The old lady said and I noticed the young one shivering in fear at the mention of that guy. I nodded and walked behind the two women. "I am Conny, by the way… I am the head of staff in the palace… This young one is Aqua, she is new staff." She introduced herself and her companion. "And you sweetheart? Do you have a name?" She looked my way and I quickly said "Ayla." We walked in silence toward the massive stone and gold palace. It was a sight to behold, quite different from home, but a true beauty nevertheless. "Aqua, make sure you feed Ayla. I need to go for a moment." Conny said walking behind me, and then she screamed. "Good Lord, what happened to you?" Her scream sent a terrifying feeling over my body. I shivered when Conny pointed at my back. "You need a medic…" she yelled and hurried Aqua to go and fetch one. Suddenly I was dizzy, fear taking the best of me, and darkness consumed me again. Alexander POV I was talking to Arran in my office, waiting for the scouts to report back, when I heard a shivering scream. Fuck, now what! I thought. Arran stood up quickly and ran towards the source. Something was pulling me to go and find out what the hell had happened, but I looked at the vase over my desk with the withered flowers, a reminder of that tragic day. I won't get close or involved with anyone again. At that moment I decided to stay rooted to my seat, and let Arran deal with whatever s**t happened. I poured a big glass of scotch, and leaned back enjoying the sour taste in my tongue. I know for sure that Arran will fill me in later, not that I care. Arran POV Conny, it was her voice. She has been like a mother to Alex and me. I ran towards the kitchen and saw Aqua rushing to the medical wing. "What happened?" I asked her and she quickly looked at me… "Sire, Miss Conny asked me to get a doctor immediately." She shivered in my presence. "Is Conny ok?" I asked her and she nodded. "Yeah, just the girl needs help." Aqua informed and walked away. "Girl? What girl?" I asked, at Aqua's retrieving figure. I walked into the kitchen and I saw all the commotion. I saw Conny drenched in blood, holding a beautiful girl in her arms. What the f**k happened here? I kneeled down next to Conny. "Conny, who is she?" Conny gave me a look. "She said her name is Ayla." "Where did you find her?" I asked. "Sire… we were walking around the northern woods, heading towards Tyron's place to give him the p*****t for Aqua." Conny said. "Is she one of Tyron's girls?" Conny shook her head. "No, Aqua has never seen her before…" Aqua walked in followed by the doctor. "Please help her…" Aqua pointed at the unconscious girl in Conny's arms. The doctor quickly checked her vitals and shook his head. "I need to take her to the medical wing. Sire Arran, would you mind?" The doctor asked and I quickly picked the unknown yet gorgeous woman in my arms. We arrived at the medic wing in no time. The doctor instructed me to place her over her stomach, with her back exposed. I shivered at the sight. Behind her back are two huge cuts on each side of her shoulder blades. What the hell happened to her? Also taking almost all her back, a huge tattoo of angel wings. The artwork on that tattoo was out of the world, all of it in white and golden colors. The doctor proceeded to clean the wounds and as soon as they were cleaned, the wounds closed. I wouldn't have believed it, if I was not actually seeing it. "She needs rest…" the doctor informed us and Conny nodded. "Ok, we have things to do…Aqua, let's go." Conny informed me and I nodded. "Doctor, can you inform me when she wakes up?" I asked and the doctor nodded "of course, Sire Arran." I gave her a courtesy nod and walked out of there. Who is this woman? I decided to go out and supervise the training grounds, to clear my head. Always having in my mind the image of the beautiful and defenseless woman in the infirmary.
