In the Kingdom of Dracula, the second trial of the second prince will happen on the next day, but no one has seen Prince Adam in three days. Suspicion started to spread in the kingdom about whether Prince Adam had escaped his crimes and went into hiding or had become one of the phantom vampires.
In front of the kingdom gates, a vampire appeared. “Identification.” One of the gatekeepers ordered.
“There is no need for that.” The gates were opened for Adam but he was stopped by the gatekeepers blocking his path with their rifles.
“We have to check you. Prince Adam.” Sighing, Adam stared at them with boredom. “In the next five seconds, if you still insist on blocking my path, I won’t hesitate to rip your hearts out.”
Eyeing them like a predator to its prey, fear crossed their faces. The gatekeepers backed away in fear. As soon as Adam entered the castle, he saw Hannah standing in the corridor, surprised to see his presence. “Where have you been?”
He kept a straight face, not bothering to throw a glance at her. Hannah was taken aback as Adam walked past her, completely ignoring her presence.
She gritted her teeth and used her speed to stand in front of him. “Adam! Your second trial is tomorrow. Shouldn’t you focus on proving yourself innocent? I could talk to your brother or maybe to the King. What have you been doing, anyway? You were gone for too long.”
“Nothing that concerns the future queen.” Hannah gritted her teeth, eyes filled with rage and hurt. Adam tried to read her mind but his eyes found the ring on Hannah’s finger that prevented him from using his ability on her. Adam sped past her and to the west tower, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.
He stood by the window and stared at the quiet and almost empty streets of the kingdom. The Kingdom of Dracula is quiet during the day. Vampire mythic hated sunlight, which is why the kingdom is always covered with thick and dark clouds.
The heat from the sun doesn’t burn a vampire mythic but its light damages their eyesight to the point of blindness. As a result, vampires are weaker during the day as the sun affects their heightened senses, which is why vampires fall into slumber during the day and awake at night.
Taking a sip of his whiskey, Adam thought of the lower-class vampire mythic in the southern coven. They have been supplying animal blood to the kingdom when the human blood bag supplies were not enough, yet they were never given any benefits from the kingdom.
Adam has been visiting these so-called vampire animal hunters and protecting them from the attacks of the phantom vampires. He was able to drive the phantoms farther away from their hunting territories but he knew those phantoms would come back. Unless he finds something more appealing to them; blood they have never tasted before, which reminds him of his encounter with that woman.
He never intended to cross the borders of the Kingdom of Magic, but his curiosity about the mythic living in that kingdom caused him to sneak in and take a look at these so-called sorcerers or healers.
“If you’re gonna do it then just get on with it or are you just all talk?” Remembering the bravery of that woman despite the fact that she was powerless, amused him. Adam could hear her thoughts loud and clear, and he enjoyed hearing her thoughts about how much he affected her. Although she had no idea she had the same effect on him; even more at that.
When the woman realized what he was, he almost panicked. He didn’t want to scare her off, so he did what he did.
Adam’s frown got deeper, emptying his glass of whiskey. Pouring another round of whiskey, he was slightly confused about what had come over him. His intention was to threaten her, but he did the exact opposite. At first, it was her blood that caught his attention, but as she got closer to him, all his senses screamed for her.
And that’s when he knew that he wanted her. He wanted nothing but her. Turning his head to the side, Adam sensed an incoming presence.
“Adam.”
“Uncle Gregory.”
His uncle sighed. “What did you do this time, son?”
“I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.” Adam turned around to face his uncle. Shaking his head, his uncle sat on the couch and poured himself a glass of whiskey.
“Adam, I’ve known you since you were born. I’ve counted the times you peed on your bed—“
Adam frowned. “Irrelevant but go on.”
“What I wanted to say, I know you more than anyone here and I know you don’t do things without reason, but it has grown out of hand this time. You cannot escape this trial.” Adam sighed, placing his empty glass down on the table.
“Who said I wanted to escape?”
His uncle sighed in frustration. “Adam, you don’t realize the grievance of your actions. Even if you said she was a phantom, there was no witness to your claim. I have talked to your father, and he said if you ------“
“I would stick to my claim, Uncle Gregory. The vampires I killed were phantom vampires.” Adam replied.
Gregory stared at him trying to figure out what he was thinking, but Adam would always stick to his words. Gregory was the king’s brother and his royal adviser. This incident isn’t the first time for Adam. Before, he was able to cover up for him, but this is beyond his control now.
Even if he tried to convince his brother once more, he knew the king wouldn’t listen. He never treated Adam as his own; he saw him as the offspring of his late wife’s betrayal. When Adam was set aside, Gregory stood like his father. He trained him to be strong so no one could ever harm him.
Adam grew up hearing nothing but criticism. He was wrong when he killed a phantom vampire at six and has been called a monster since then. He killed many creatures that dared cross their territory. He fought for the kingdom and bathed in the blood of the creatures that dared to threaten it.
He was once accused of being a phantom vampire but was proven innocent of the accusation. Gregory saw Adam’s achievements, while the rest of the Kingdom saw failure and ruthlessness. Despite being the firstborn, Adam is only second to the throne, but that didn’t matter to him. He is ruthless to the people he sees as enemies, but he has a heart of a King and compassion towards the common people of the Kingdom of Dracula. This is something that Gregory sees in Adam, but the king was too blind to notice it.
Gregory stood from his seat and stood before Adam, placing his hand on his shoulder. “No matter what happens, I will not let them sentence you to death.”
Adam smirked. “I’ve been long dead, Uncle Gregory.”
They both turned their heads when the door slammed open, revealing a man who resembled Gregory. When his eyes landed on Adam, a sigh of relief crossed his face. “Adam. I have been looking everywhere for you.”
Adam’s closest cousin, George, approached them. “I’ve been hearing rumors from the knights. They said you have runaway. Why would you? You just killed a phantom. What’s the crime in that?” George snorted, shaking his head.
“And what did you tell them?” Adam asked.
“What else? I told them you were just looking for a good time. Screwing a bunch of vampire sluts can get pretty boring.” Shaking his head in disbelief, Adam grinned, remembering the encounter he had once again.
George smirked. “I know that look. Who was it? What kind of mythic was it?”
“George, aren’t you supposed to be on the training grounds?” Gregory asked, getting his son’s attention.
“It’s alright, father. We were given a ten-minute break and I could go back there in half a minute.” George replied with too much confidence.
“You had better wear that confidence in an actual battle, George, or I will have you sent to the West coven with your aunt.” Hearing this, George blinked his eyes and left.
“Make sure you get some rest, Adam. You’re going to need it for your trial tomorrow.” giving him an encouraging tap on his shoulders, Gregory left Adam alone in his room. As soon as his uncle left, Adam sighed. The trial will decide his fate in the kingdom, but that is it. No matter what happens, Adam is determined to follow his own path.

It was past midnight when Micah finally gained consciousness. Gently, she blinked her eyes as darkness was all she could see. Finally adjusting her vision, she realized she was in her room.
Frowning, she ran her hand through her hair. She can hear a commotion downstairs but she’s too tired to even care. Micah switched on the light and, at the same time, her bedroom door opened, revealing her brother with a frantic look on his face.
“What are you doing?” Micah asked.
Relief crossed Michael’s face at the sight of his sister. He saw Arci and Benjamin going to the Palace and wondered where Micah was. Arci told him she was having a magic deficiency, but when he arrived home, none of the lights were on and Micah was not responding no matter how he called.
“Have you been here all this time?” Michael asked. Micah blinked her eyes and her frown got deeper as she found her brother’s questions rather weird.
“Yes. I was sleeping.” She answered.
“You didn’t wake up at all? I was banging at your door, calling your name. I walked outside and saw your room was flooded with water.” Michael ranted. Micah blinked her eyes and lifted her eyebrows. “You’re probably just seeing things. I can sense alcohol in your system.”
Micah mentally gasped. Did she acquire Agua’s power yet? How come she can still use her healing power? She cleared her throat and continued, “As you can see, there’s not a single drop of water in my room and I am perfectly fine. I thought you would be working overnight.”
Sighing, Michael replied, “It’s a good thing I came home. What if something terrible happens to you? I thought Vincent Velasco abducted you or r***d you.”
At the mention of his name, Micah’s face darkens. “Do you really think I’d let that dumbass get near me?”
“I never knew about this arrangement, Micah. If I did, I would have talked to our parents about it.”
“I know, Michael, and it’s still useless because they wouldn’t listen to you.” Micah replied. Michael stared at his sister until a frown formed on his forehead. There was something different about Micah. Her aura is different or more like it’s vanishing. “What exactly did you do to have a magic deficiency?”
Shrugging her shoulders, Micah replied, “I was practicing. I was trying to modify my body like that of a man and maybe if I did it successfully, I might be able to turn my v****a into a penis.”
Michael's jaw dropped, almost not believing what his sister had been doing. His eyes landed on one of the open books. Grabbing it, he read the book which talked about body modifications. “This is ridiculous, Micah.”
“I know but nothing could be more ridiculous than marrying me off to Vincent Velasco.” Micah replied, smirking, then she added, “Are you done? I still need some sleep.” Michael nodded his head and left Micah’s room.
“That was quite convincing.” Micah smirked. Turning around, she shrugged her shoulders as she laid eyes on her predecessor. Agua stood by the window grinning. “What are you doing here? Are you checking up on me?”
“Yes, this will be the first and last.” Micah raised her eyebrows waiting for Agua to continue, but she just stood there; staring at her with a smile on her face. “I’ll watch over you from the waters. I won’t disappear. Well, my physical body will be, but my soul will continue to live.”
Micah walked closer to her and smiled. “I get it. Thank you, Agua. I hope I don’t disappoint you.”
“From now on, stop trying to prove yourself worthy because you’re the only one who knows your worth.” Agua’s body started to disappear. Micah sends her off with a smile on her face. Micah raised her hand, trying to remember how Agua created the ball of water.
From her palm, water started to flow, forming a ball of water. Micah had a big smile on her face as she looked at the ball of water in her palm. She tried to form the water into different shapes, the smile never left her face as she did.
Lastly, she created a dagger. The dagger fell into her hand, and as she held it, Micah wanted to test whether it could be used as a weapon or not, as the dagger was made up of water. Micah used the dagger to cut her other hand and, surprisingly, it wounded her.
But the wound vanished as the water retreated into her hand. Sighing, Micah felt tremendous happiness that she had been chosen to be the guardian of the water element for life, but she knew she was still unfamiliar with her new powers, thus making her weak.
As she stared at herself in the mirror, Micah stared at her reflection with utter determination. “I am the guardian of the waters and its realm. I’ll make sure I make myself worthy of that title.”
