"Thank you, Doctor. This is great news." Velda smiled, collecting the result from him.
"I'll let your husband know this at once," The middle-aged Doctor announced, retaining his smile.
"No!" Velda interrupted impulsively, "I'd do that myself."
The Doctor's brows furrowed in surprise and confusion at her actions and behavior, but she quickly explained it away.
"I'd like for it to be a surprise." she lied.
"Very well, then. Congratulations, once again." He turned around and left.
Velda's drumming heart echoed in the four walls of the room she was in. She clutched the paper in her hand as she fought hard to prevent the tears that welled in her eyes.
