Third Person POV
The Legend…
Thousands of years ago back in the days of old. The supernatural world was in chaos. Creatures of all kinds fighting with each other for power, or using the weak for personal gain. The Moon Goddess, Selene, saw all the supernatural creatures as her children. So she started to make mate matches between the different races of supernatural creatures. Hoping that the love they share would bring them together, but the world was not ready for that kind of change.
Mates were rejected for being of a different race. Most mates rejected their other halves out of fear of being criticized by their own kind. Others thought they were above them and would be disgusted that they were paired with such a creature. The few pairs that did accept each other would have been outcasted by both races. It broke the Moon Goddess’s heart. To see the thousands of hearts breaking, and mates that could not be together. She cried so much stardust that people say that is how the night sky was filled with stars. For everyone knows that the inner soul of a supernatural creature… Whether a wolf, a bear, a vampire, a dragon, or even a fairy. They would never be whole without their true mate, but the human half of them could care less.
The rift and hatred between races grew more and more as the years rolled by.
It was causing the goddess so much pain and heartache that her brothers and sisters thought to start fresh and destroy what was there now.
Selene was so pure and kind that she begged her siblings on behalf of the supernatural world. Even if they caused her pain when they rejected their mates, she felt that it would change in time.
‘Brothers, sisters, even if it is not right now. Please give them a chance. There will be a time when they will come together.’
After a long discussion about it. Selene’s brother, Helios, came up with a compromise.
‘Alright, Selene, they shall have a chance for change. For now, you will pair them with their own races, but when the time comes, you will choose a pure-hearted female to be your Moon Princess. She will have three mates, one of her own kind and two of different races. If she can bring three races together with her mates, then we will not destroy them.’
Selene was happy that her children were given a chance. A chance to change for the better, but there was a catch.
‘Selene, if your Moon Princess should fail in unifying the races with her mates, then we will destroy this world. You shall have 10 millennia (10, 000 years) to find your Moon Princess.’ Helios’ voice boomed throughout the sky. Selene lowered her head to her brother.
‘Yes, brother.’ She was thankful for the chance to save her children but worried about which child could actually handle the pressure of saving the world from the wrath of the gods.
Thousands of years later… (The night Jess’s children were born.)
Selene paced back and forth in front of the ‘Spring of the Gods’. The spring allowed the gods and goddesses to see clearly into the mortal realm from the spirit realm.
‘The deadline is almost up. I still haven't found a pure and strong-willed soul to bear such a burden as this.’ Selene thought to herself. With the blue moon shining brightly, Selene looked into the spring and saw Jess beginning the Harvest Moon Festival in the Raven Moon pack. Jess was one of her children who had overcome so much and asked for so little.
Selene’s eyes widened as Jess went into Labor on stage. She could feel something special was about to happen. Selene watched as Jess gave birth to her two sons first, but she felt a strong pull when Jess’s daughter came into the world. The little girl’s hair was as white as snow and her big blue eyes were bluer than the ocean. With the child bathing in the rays of the blue moon, Selene knew without a doubt.
“This child… the daughter of my broken luna, shall be my Moon Princess.” Selene said to herself as she placed a special birthmark on the child's right shoulder blade.
A merging of the sun and moon with three stars going down the center border.
“May you remain as innocent and pure as you are now, my child, but grown into a strong and independent woman. Unite the races with your mates in the future and save my children from destruction.” Selene prayed as she gave the children their gifts that very night.
