Silver
The world crashed down and shattered into thousands of pieces, just like my reality broke down from the powerful thunderbolt running down from the sky over my hopes. The news spread like a fire in the woods and caught everything in it. My legs trembled and I fell to the ground as glass fell from the slip of my hands.
My chest was palpating roughly, bulging out in suffocation. It was too much to handle everything at one time. What would be worse than when you expected something but the result was utterly opposite. Shouldn’t I be happy that I received the thing I wanted back for so long... However, there was something in my mind which was curious and alert about the hoarding storm.
“What? My daughter? Is she here? How?” my voice was entirely different..
It was filled with deep remorse...
“Silver.. Get up! Look me in the eyes…” Daphne held hold of me and pull me closer.
“My baby is here.. Finally…” I smiled internally but I can’t shred this unusual feeling growing inside my heart.
Daphne brought my slipper and dragged me out on the balcony of my room… she wasn’t amused at all. Like I could read it from her face that what she has to say or inform, it isn’t good. She gulped the lump down her throat and hold my hands firmly...
“Listen to me Carefully, Silver.. We have to see Zohar first... we should listen to his report before meeting Abria.. I know i might sound stupid to you but before your motherly instincts come into action.. I want to make this clear that you are not going to deal with a girl… not an ordinary one…” daphne was stammering in between as if she was afraid of Abria’s presence.
“What do you mean? I know this can be a big scam but why do we have to think everything too negative… maybe Abria is back after knowing the reality?” i replied to her thoughts.
She shook her head and dropped her shoulders while looking at me in the eye, “do you remember what Elijah said about Abria? The prophecy and everything?” she raised her eyebrows at me.
“Yes, i do..” i nodded my head in understatement but i still did not get where this is leading?
“What if that prophecy is true? We need to be careful with her.. One wrong step and it can make us remorse for everything..” she was more concerned than nay day.
“I understand that but why are you getting so anxious about this?” i frowned at her.
“Because i have seen a little demonstration of her powers before.. She is not like us.. She is different...:” Said Daphne..
I sighed and nodded my head, “i will be careful, dear.. But i want you to get your mind out of such thoughts.. I will make sure to put more guards for security but can we go see her now? The mother inside me is dying to see her child..” i frowned and pouted sweetly.
She nodded her head in agreement and we dismissed the meeting for further notice. As for the time, i was excited to the core to see my baby girl first time in a while. But there was this doubt in mind if what it could be an intruder or a nasty trap by the enemy kingdom. Perhaps, i have my full trust in Zohar’s abilities and I can’t deny the fact that if he brought this girl here, there is no doubt that she isn’t my daughter.
Passing the corridors hastily but it felt like the time wasn’t passing at all. Furthermore, as long as my gaze fell on Daphne’s face, a certain concern drew in my mind. She looked more than worried… should I take this as a warning because even in the earlier times, her intuitions never proved wrong…
What is Elijah said about prophecy being true? Oh!! Shut it... I will deal it with later… since I have more important issues to focus on, I better stop thinking these baseless thoughts.
The rush down to the ground floor wasn’t compelling at all. I could hear the lowest murmur so loudly… my heart was beating like drums and my surroundings appeared to be in slow motion… the palace residents and royals cleared the path ad let me get inside the infirmary. My racing heartbeats were on an unending rollercoaster and I can’t see through the haze in front of my eyes.
“Your majesty has arrived, lord Zohar…” the guards informed my brother and he stood from the chair upon hearing my arrival.
“Silver!!!” his eyes met mine and the floodgates were opened.
I did not care about the crowd in front of me, and I hugged him so tight.
“It will be alright..okay?” he patted my back and wiped the tears away… Daphne gestured the guards to leave the private space for us.
“I don’t know… I really don’t know how did this happen? When I thought everything is going to be fine and now our sufferings will end... God decided to play with our destiny once again… I can’t explain to you how terrible I am feeling right now… i can’t make this up to my mind that Elijah left me again.. I don’t understand why he did that to me? A rejection would have been better than a false hope… this is tearing me apart…” I was on my knees while crying.. I haven’t been cried that hard since.
Zohar hold me up and made me sit on the chair. He offered the tissue papers and I fixed myself but still, the tears won’t stop poring like rain after a storm.
“I am sorry to break this to you but I did not find any clue where he went… I trusted my own abilities to find him and bring him back but there is nothing I could do to find him anymore… he just vanished in thin air and there is no way to trace him..” he informed me while keeping his head low.
I brushed my fingers in his hair and assured him that his efforts did not go in vain.
“It doesn’t matter if you find him or not, at least now we are aware that he is not someone who to be trusted at all. I wished i had understood it earlier so none of us has to go through such things… but still… i am more than glad that my daughter has safely arrived…” I sighed with a heavy heart but I was jubilant that my daughter is back safely in my arms.
“Zohar!! I need to see her…” I demanded him.
He was silent and gulped down a lump that was formed in his throat.. “I am afraid you cannot see her right now.. The healers are investigating her..” he informed to me.
I gasped and turned to look sharply at him, “what do you mean I can’t see her now.. And why are the healers are investigating her? Did something happen to her? Is she alright? Tell me… answer me, Zohar!!!” i panicked when he mentioned that the palace healers are taking care of my daughter.
“Relax, Silver… don’t be so impatient. I solely understand your emotions but you need to calm down… even we don’t know what happened to Abria.. We found her engraved in a thick sheet of ice.. Luckily, she is alive and we brought her here… just wait for what the healers have to say..” he put his hands on my shoulders and made me sit on the vacant chair.
I sniffled and wiped the tears… Daphne brought a glass of water for me. They both were looking at me pitifully, and I can’t deny the fact that I feel the same for myself.
“Did anyone knows that Abria is the long-lost princess?” I asked while staring at the floor.
Zohar sighed and said, “the news has spread like a fire… I guess it will be a wonder if I found anyone who doesn’t know that the princess has been found... But there is nothing we can do to stop it, more… we have to be careful..”
“That’s exactly what I interpreted… not just the enemies or wide watchers, but Abria, she herself is the biggest issue we have to handle... I don’t know how long it will take for the healers to announce some news... I am getting impatient..” Daphne said to us.
Soon after, the healers arrived and the chief dismissed the substitutes… his gaze met mine and I can judge from that look he gave me, that he isn’t pleased with all.
“Is everything accustomed, Maren…?” I asked him.
He was hesitant but nodded his head after.. “Right now, all I can say is that it isn’t just a miracle that this girl survived in the cold but I cannot say that she will be awake soon.. Her body is healing and what fascinated me is that her healing abilities are quite mesmerizing and lethal too.. Of course, she is the evolution of the breed but it will be too soon to say that this evolution will be good for us.. I hope you are getting what I am trying to convey…”
“Yes, we do.. And we are afraid of the same concern... Furthermore, we need to keep her in a watch because she will be a target to many of our spies and enemies lurking around us..” Zohar replied to Maren.
Maren nodded his head and assured him that he will take care of it.
“Can I see my daughter now?” I asked him.
“Yes, you can but still... I would like to suggest you to maintain your distance, your highness..”
I nodded my head slightly in agreement and rushed into the room to glance at my daughter...
As soon as I enter through the door, I noticed two green eyes glaring at me… that was the feeling i can’t put into words but it was enough to shatter my whole world…
“Abria??” I smiled at her but her face was emotionless and rigid. Her next words broke my confidence in calling her mother..
“Who are you?” she narrowed her gaze at me.
