I stood in the kitchen with a blue apron tied around myself. I was busily squeezing fresh oranges to make juice for us, while pain au chocolat baked in the oven. I had learned a few tricks or two from a nurse that was at the children's hospital. She had taught me how to make it one time and I had brought them in to share with the children. I softly chuckled at the memory of all of the smiling children, who were clearly delighted by the pastries. I sighed as I pulled the hot water from the stove to pour into a coffee press. I wanted to try and make Eden feel at home. To feel like she belonged somewhere and was safe. I didn't intend to hurt her or do anything with her.
