“Your highness, we must take quick actions for the woman is very ill and she might not survive this time” The white haired man said wiping the sweat that had formed on his forehead
“Yes my lord, the longer it takes, the more dangerous it becomes” Another man added. A dark haired man wearing a royal robe, toyed with his fork as he listened to his council members advise him.
“King Eric of Endicine has offered his first daughter to you for marriage to create a new alliance” The white haired man added. “And...” He stopped in his sentence as the king raised his hand to stop him from speaking any further.
“I will not repeat myself again sir Fredrick, I’m not interested in any sort of marriage alliance with any one and especially not that old hag. You should know better than to suggest such a stupid idea. It will be the last of this conversation. Do I make myself clear?” The king’s deep voice filled the room,
“Y-yes my lord” Fredrick said with a bow.
“Good, I want to be left alone you may all leave” The king announced raising from his chair
“But-but my lord..” Fredrick raised his finger to talk only to shut up when he received a cold killing glare from the king, he bowed his head and headed out of the chamber with his comrades.
The king walked to the window looking outside it, his cold eyes surveyed the surrounding as his gaze slowly moved to a young girl who was carrying a basket of fruits into the royal kitchen. His eyes narrowed as he tried to get a view of her face because she had her back facing him.
“Who is that girl?” The king asked his eyes still on the girl even though she had walked into the kitchen
“Who?” Andrew asked, and walked to the king looking outside the window following the king’s gaze. “Oh that girl, she’s just a slave that was bought some days ago from the black market” Andrew, the king right hand man said.
“Bought by who?”
“Well-well, Your uncle. Derrick” Andrew announced as his gaze moved to the king whose jaw tightened at the mention of his uncle’s name
“That f*****g bastard” The king cursed under his breath. “Let’s go to the courtyard, it seems that uncle of mine has forgotten where he stands” He said with a smirk and headed towards the door with Andrew behind him.
The doors swung open, the king and his right hand man walked into the room. The old dull painted room was filled with a big bed, a dresser and a brown thick rug in the center of the room.
“Oh Alexander, you didn’t tell me you were coming, I would have asked the servants to prepare something for you to eat” Derrick said, wiping his hands with a napkin. Placing the napkin on the table he gestured to the servant to take the food away which the servant did.
“You are living well uncle” Alexander said with a smirk, “Too well for a f*****g traitor” His eyes met his uncle’s eyes.
“Don’t be like that nephew, why must you bring back the past? We must learn to let go, we are family after all” Derrick said spreading his arms.
“Stop the pretense Derrick, it’s exhausting, we all knew how stupid you have been” Alexander leaned on the wall, “But for the sake of my father, I let you keep your worthless life, and you should know I can take it anytime I want so don’t get to comfortable”
“Oh cousin, still so cold after all these years, I’m still your uncle. You don’t have to be so harsh with the words” Derrick said flashing a smile
“I heard you bought a slave some days ago” Alexander said heading towards the table, moving his gaze over the cupboard.
“News do travel fast, why would the king be interested in my business so much that he bothers to visit my chambers this early in the morning” Derrick said in an unexpected low voice.
“Cut the bullshit uncle, whatever you do in this castle is my business. Why did you buy the slave and why wasn’t I informed?” Alexander’s eyes narrowed
“Few days ago, I went for a stroll and happened to pass by the slave market, they were auctioning girls slaves. And she was the cheapest of all, so I decided to buy her” Derrick explained
“That doesn’t explain why I wasn’t informed, anyways, I see no need for her. Send her back to the slave market I need no more weak humans than I already have” Alexander hissed.
“My lord, sincere apologies for keeping you in the dark about my affairs, I will be sure to remember to do so next time. As for the slave, I cannot return her”
“What do you mean by that? Are you planning on going against me again huh?” Anger began to rise again within Alexander
“No sire, I mean no such thing, what I am trying to say is if she is returned to the black market she would be killed. It would only mean she is a bad luck” His uncle explained
“Bad luck? You know I do not believe in such nonsense. Fortunately for you, I am in a good mood today so I will let this go, you can keep your slave but she should not cross path with me. The mere sight of humans disgust me” His jaw tightened as he said the last words.
“I will make sure of that, thank you for your kindness” Derrick said with a bow
“Whatever,” Alexander said as he walked towards the door that was already opened for him, from the side of his eyes he saw the guards bow in respect and fear as he walked past them, a slow proud smirk appeared on his face. That was exactly what he wanted to see and feel from people, it gave him undeniably strong happiness when he watched people shiver at the sight of him.
