Chapter Eighteen
There followed a couple of weeks when the two were hardly talking. Lek spent more time at her parents’ house and then she didn’t know where Tom was. Sometimes, she didn’t even care. It was a sad and lonely time for her, especially in the beginning when she was trying to keep up appearances, but in truth, the whole village knew what was going on.
Except Lek, that is.
Her friends had tried to tell her, but they didn’t know what else they could do. They had no experience in those matters.
If there had been a problem with house-breaking in Baan Suay, Lek’s home would have been turned over, it looked so abandoned, although they had few possessions worth stealing anyway. Everything that they had bought, Tom had already sold.
