"Fine," she sighed in surrender," Just a warning, the truth will hurt. You see you and Dylan were-"
"There you are," Dylan choose that exact moment to grace us with his grand entrance.
"As you can see we were actually talking," I didn't intend to but I snapped at him.
"Now I don't think that's a way to talk to your fiancee, or is it?"
"I guess I should leave the two of you," Ranee excused herself, already making a go for the entrance to the party.
Was this really happening again? Every time I was almost getting information out of Ranee, something always happened to prevent it. I didn't realize I was actually glaring at Dylan until he spoke up, distracting me from the one million ways I was thinking of killing him.
"Whoa! Enough with the glaring. If looks could kill, I bet I wound have been six feet plus under. Am sorry for interrupting your conversation. It's because I missed you so much but I promise to make up for the interruption with a holiday while we are in Miami," the sexy grin playing on his lips always somehow found a way to turn me on.
If he had the ability to read my mind, he would have fainted from all the r-rated thoughts crossing my head right now.
"Am looking forward to that darling. As much as everything happened so suddenly I feel like am the luckiest girl in the galaxy to have gotten you. It's still hard to believe that you actually confessed to bring in love with me. I can't stop counting my blessings now and trust me you are the greatest of all of them," I cooed, wrapping my arms around his neck.
I bit my lips seductively, urging him to cover the distance between us. His head moved towards mine, benefitting me with a cool gaze sweeping all over me and I shivered in anticipation as my heartbeat quickened. As I stared into the mesmerizing dark brown of his equally attractive orbs, he jerked me towards his taut body, slowly closing the remaining few inches.
"Tell me what you want Briannah," his breathlessness only served to make matters worse for me.
"Kiss me Dylan," I whispered unable to have control on what I was yearning for.
"Say it again babe,"
"Say what?" I asked my breathing labored.
"Say my name Anna. The way it rolls off that sweet tongue of yours is a major turn on, do you know that?"
"Dylan," I was almost fainting from too much anticipation.
"At this rate I might take you here, right now, against this wall,"
"Just kiss me Dylan," my lips begged for his attention.
"You know if we start we might never stop. The temptation will be too much for me to handle. So why don't we go back inside, to the party and waste ourselves away? Anyway we have each other for a whole lifetime,"
Well Dylan if I were you I wouldn't say a lifetime because as soon as I find out what you did to me in the past then you'll wish I never came into your life. Take as much advantage of this time when I have no memory as much as you want because as soon as I get back my memory, you'll cuss the day you were born, I thought smiling as his hand went round my waist, dragging me inside the party.
I didn't mean to but I found my eyes roving the entire mass of people trying to find Mike but unluckily he was nowhere to be seen. The thought of Mike being mad at me bothered me much more than it should. I mean we are just friends, right? After a couple of drinks and dances Dylan offered to drive me home since 'my ride' apparently had left without a word.
All throughout the journey I caught Dylan throwing futive glances my way, while wearing that smile I found so intimidating. Once we reached my house we both got out of the car and he held my hand, his touch sending tingles up my arm.
"Anna, you have and you'll always be in my heart. Goodnight my Anna Grey," he whispered, planting a peck on my forehead. This statement sounded like he clearly meant it.
Just a peck? I wondered though in disappointment.
"I love you too, my Christian Grey," I whispered back.
"Am way hotter that Christian Grey," he joked with a slight grin.
"Are you?" I quaked up an eyebrow teasing him back.
"Wanna see me naked?"
"I bet you do want me to see you naked,"
"If it helps you sleep at night, yes I do want you to see me naked. Heck am dying to have you. The things I want to do to you are much more fifty shades wild. Lord knows am really trying to keep my distance from you right now. I want you so badly that it's killing me," he ran his fingers over his head, his hair completely going in disarray.
All of a sudden he looked at me as though he had just woken up from a trance.
"I gotta go Anna," he quickly got back in his car.
I watched him drive off, before I walked inside the empty house. Great! So now I'll have to spend an entire night alone in such a big house, because who knows when Ranee might show up. After making sure the doors were locked, I changed into my teddy bear pajamas, then got into my bed. I lay on my back, staring at the ceiling while running over everything that had happened today. From Dylan hitting me, the fainting, waking up in Dylan's mansion, then fainting again, waking up at Mike's place, the party, the proposal and the most confusing, Dylan's declaration of love for me. I fiddled with the ring, it's familiarity rubbing against my fingers. Pain suddenly shot through my head and on impulse I held it in both hands, my eyes tightly closed, willing the pain to go away A faint image suddenly crossed my mind.
I couldn't clearly figure out who the boy was but he was holding my hand, slipping a ring on my finger.
"Thanks so much Larry. You know that I would never leave you no matter what happens. You mean so much to me, more than you can possibly imagine," I whispered back to him and with that the image just disappeared.
Larry? Who was Larry? And why did I proclaim my love for him? Were we supposed to get married? And where did Dylan and the ring he gave to me fit in?
If Dylan had really been part of my past, why did he deny ever knowing me? Or maybe the familiarity of the ring was just coincidental and I was just overreacting.
I pulled at my hair in frustration. Damn! All this was confusing my mind. That's when I remembered I hadn't taken my make up off. I had hardly tiptoed to the bathroom when my phone rang. Strangely Mike's name flashed across the screen.
'Mike am really sorry about-" whoever it was on the other end of the line cut me off.
"Ma'am you need to come immediately,"
A sudden memory flashed through my panicked mind.
My eyes kept hovering over to the clock ticking on the wall. I tapped my feet nervously, my hand on my waist while biting my lips. Two hours later still they were not home. I began pacing up and down, waiting to hear the doorbell ring, announcing the arrival of my parents. They were supposed to have come back from their dinner date three hours ago. I had tried both their phones a few too many times but they never picked up. I was going to try calling them for the umpteenth time but before I could, my phone rang. I rushed to pick it up relief a washing me when I saw my mum's name flashing across the screen.
"Hello mum. What happened? You were supposed to be here three hours ago,"
"We need you to come immediately," an unknown voice answered me instead.
Cold tremors ran down my spinal cord, freezing every living cell of my body. Sweat droplets formed on my forehead showing the sudden fear I was feeling.
"W-where?" I stuttered clutching the phone harder, almost breaking it into pieces.
"To St. Lukes Hospital. Your parents were involved in an accident," as soon as the words hit my ear,i staggered back, suddenly feeling all the energy drain from my body.
"Ma'am?Ma'am? Are you still there?" the voice at the other end of the line brought me out of my reverie.
"Yeah. Am fine, just zoned out abit. Where is Mike?" a cold feeling settled on my tummy.
"In 10 to 10 Rave club. You need to come immediately before-"
"Am on my way," I cut him off, while hanging up.
I stripped my pajamas and put on a navy blue t-shirt with black pants and some brown boots. Putting on a black mid thigh length coat, I walked out. It was as though there were some luck angels smiling upon me because as soon as I was out of the gate an empty taxi passed by and I flagged it down.
"10 to 10 Rave club,"
"That's the advantage of having the money," the taxi driver, a old man of about fifty five years old, observed.
"Why did you say that?" curiosity had gotten the better part of me.
"Well, that's the most expensive club in town. It's no place for middle or low class people like us,"
"Oh!" that was the only thing I could exclaim.
I have never been to that club so I knew nothing about it. As we drove on, I watched the elegant houses of New York City pass by. Noises filled the street and I didn't realize when we pulled up at the lobby of the club.
After paying up, I walked in and the only way to describe what I was feeling was awkward and out of place. People around me, especially the ladies were dressed in expensive First Class designer clothes with six inch heals. As I walked in further, I realised people had formed a circle and were murmuring softly. I tried to peer through the mass of bodies but to no avail. Then from somewhere in the middle of the circle, Mike's voiced boomed thunderously.
"Now who else feels like he can insult me?" a long pause followed before he spoke up again.
"What? Are you all scared I would beat the crap out of you? You stupid sons of a b***h!"
"We have been standing here for like twenty five minutes watching this fight why can't someone take the initiative to call the police?" somebody reasoned from somewhere in the crowd, followed by several mummers of agreement.
"No don't call the police I'll handle him," I shouted as people turned to look at me.
Several bust into laughter as they stared at me while others looked like they had just seen their favorite celebrity cleaning public washrooms in broad daylight. Great! So they were judging me from my dressing.
A young man approached me and judging from the way he was dressed he was a waiter.
"I think you are the new cleaner. Cleaning hours till morning," he whispered in my ear.
A cleaner? Was he stupid or something?
"Excuse me? Am not a cleaner. I received a phone call asking me to come here and now you call me a cleaner? Do you know that I was asleep already?" realisation seemed to dawn on him.
"Are you the fiancee to Mr Mike? Am sorry it was me who actually called you. Your fiancee started a fight in the club and he has already done so much mess, injuring three people. Better take him away before the police show up here," he advised.
I pushed my way through the mass of expensive cologne and perfumes, receiving many cusses on the way. When I finally made it to the middle of the circle, my lipstick was smudged but I didn't care. I was shocked to see three men down and Mike who was staggering abit, had a bruise on his left cheek and a bleeding cut on the top of his right eyebrow.
I took in the broken glasses littering the floor before averting my eyes to Mike. He was still shouting, his words now sounding a bit slurred. When he saw me a lazy smile lit his face. He walked towards me, staggering a little as he planted a small kiss on the right side of my lips. Even with his breath smelling beer, he was still getting my knees weak. As much as the temptation of kissing him was so strong, I had to have a hold on myself. I held his arm and dragged him out of the place. Behind me I heard the manager say something about still having Mike's credit card and that he would cut off all the losses Mike had caused from the card. I didn't want to listen to him. I was already so tired and Mike's weight wasn't making things any easier.
"Mike where is your car?"
"My car? My car?" he repeated as though he didn't understand what I was saying. Well,i guess he was more drank than I had estimated.
"Yes, your car," I strained against his weight on my shoulder.
"The V8? It's that one on the left," he pointed towards the far end of the lobby.
As soon as we reached the car I made him lean on the trunk of the car as I inserted my hand into his pocket. I found his car keys and turned to open the car but he stopped me, jerking me towards his body. For a drunken man that was too strong.
"Anna why can't you love me even after all these years?" he slurred, his voice a mixture of drunkenness, pain and betrayal.
