Chapter 16 – The Second Isogeny Offensive
Jerry watched the icons on the monitor. After regrouping, the fleet had started moving again.
“Here we go,” Parker said. “Attack on Isogeny, take two.”
The sergeants and Jerry were gathered around the monitor again, but the rest of the platoon no longer crowded around behind them. They were scattered throughout the exercise room. They seemed to be avoiding Jerry, even to the point of avoiding looking at him.
Jerry didn't blame them. He had already failed, and men on other ships were dead because of him. But he wouldn't fail again. He'd steal a gravpack, hot-wire an airlock, and walk the black by himself if that's what it took to get in range of those defense satellites.
