"Luke," Allison began, folding her hands together on top of the table, slouching in her chair, "Please tell me you have something for me."
Though it might sound like a question, it's not one. It's been four days since the hunter found out about Alpha Reaper. And Allison couldn't catch a good night sleep, overthinking about it. She kept on thinking about the creature who wanted to harm her. Why was he after her?
Usually, she would have lost interest by now and moved on to something new. Chasing someone who didn't want to be found was something Allison only did when they had something she desperately wanted back. Not these killer Alphas.
It's been four days, and the hunter has had enough of waiting. She paid her people more than enough for them to be provided with answers, not helpless shrugs and a lack of information. The money went out of her pocket, considering her father had no idea about this secret mission.
Luke raked his fingers through his blond hair, making a sour face. As usual, he's dressed in a plaid shirt and some skinny jeans, which he thought would make him appear normal. His rugged looks would deceive only fools because he's the sharpshooter of their group.
He's holding a thin stack of papers, very thin actually, which he slid across the desk. "This is all the information I could find on Alpha Reaper. He's notorious but also very secretive. No one was ready to snitch on him"
The hunter picked them up, flicking through the pages only to twist her lips. What did she expect? Of course, there was no photo or any known address of this infamous Alpha. Only that he used to work with a couple of people who turned up dead.
"That's it?"
Luke hung his head in shame. "We are trying, Allison. Drake is trying to search for his old gang members."
"Do you need more men? More money?"
"N-No"
"Then I want the results, Luke" She stood up. "I'm hiding this from my father, so I want this to be over as soon as possible. You know what happens when he gets involved."
Her colleague grimaced, "Yeah."
"Good. Now you may leave"
"Umm...Allison, there's something else you need to know," Luke started, trailing as he looked over his shoulder. Odd. Why was he suddenly so cautious?
"Luke, no one can hear us. This is soundproof office, remember?"
The hunter specifically asked to design her own office. Primarily for privacy reasons, but also she wanted the space to be just hers. There was a sound system in one corner followed by the huge display of her guns—favourite ones. She asked for a plush couch to be placed against the wall and then a short walk-in closet. Unlike others, she didn't have her clothes, but it's another route to get out of the room.
Luke nervously chuckled. "Oh right."
"What's going on?"
"We sprinkled the wolfsbane on all of our guns and blades just like you asked. And we found something."
Allison lips curved in a smirk. After the way that Alpha followed her so daringly, she couldn't risk it. That's why the hunter asked her most trusted men to sprinkle odourless wolfsbane on all of their firearms and tools.

"Kyle", Allison cleared her throat, eyeing the new trainee cleaning their equipment. They had to get rid of that wolfsbane after finding the culprit.
"Y-Yes?" He stuttered.
"Walk along. I am going to teach you something today."
"Should I bring a pen and paper?" He adjusted the glasses, awkwardly looking around the room.
She sighed. "No, Kyle. This lesson doesn't require a pen and paper. Now come along."

"So," The hunter lazily drawled, crossing her legs together on the couch. It was digging into her hips uncomfortably. Then again, the furniture in the basement was old and needed to replace.
Sasha, the hunter who had been working for them for over six months, squirmed in her chair.
"I heard something exciting about you."
"Oh?" She pulled her sweater over her fingers together. "What about, exactly?"
Sasha appeared distant, avoiding making any eye contact with Allison. Instead, she kept watching her legs pressed together.
"I heard from someone that you are not human" The hunter smirked, her head tilting to the side. Kyle and Luke kept quiet, watching the conversation unfold with fascination. "Is that true, Sasha?"
The hunter watched as her eyes widened at the question, gripping her fingers where she had them locked atop her lap. Sasha broke eye contact again, her lips parted. Her breaths came out in gasps as she denied. "I think you're mistaken —"
"No mistake," Allison cut in, raising her legs on the coffee table and crossing them elegantly. "You have been lying to this all these months so that you could have a spot in our group. This is much more than that. We are family."
The hunter leaned forward, fingers locked together. "And you have betrayed all of us. Were you simply just going to wait for my back to be turned and dive for the kill?"
"Of course not!" Sasha almost let out a growl, slapping a hand over her mouth as she realised her mistake. "I didn't mean to do that—"
"Yet you did," Allison scowled, sitting up straight, her fingers sliding down the coffee table and pulling the knife installed under."And your hand are swollen due to wolfsbane."
"I-I..." The werewolf trailed off, unable to form a coherent sentence. There was nothing she could say—her apology already expected by Allison.
"That's all I needed to see," Allison's hand jerked up, and with practised ease, the knife was thrown straight and too quick for the eye to follow. It lodged itself exactly where the hunter intended to—in Sasha's chest. Blood gushed past the wound, and the werewolf let out a loud shriek as she lifted her shaking hands towards the knife - gagging and choking on the blood that seeped past her lips.
The werewolf didn't struggle for long, the blood loss making it quick for her arms and legs to give away. Her body fell lax against the floor.
Allison eyed the corpse and stood slowly, her movements lazy as she strolled towards Sasha. The hunter retreated her wolfsbane laced knife from her chest with a sickening squelch before handing it to Kyle. He made a face at the sight of blood, almost gagging.
"Clean this up and tape my knife back under the coffee table."
Sasha let out pitiful moans, her head killing back before shutting her eyes.
"What a useless Alpha," Allison rolled her eyes as she stepped around the body that loudly thumped to the bloodied floor.
Kyle gaped at that. "She's werewolf?!"
"Yes, Kyle"
"W-Wow" He quickly corrected himself. "I mean, that's so shocking! She's good at hiding her true status."
"Not anymore."
Just then, Drake walked through the door, his eyebrow raised at the dead body on the floor. The hunter saw something flickered on his face, but he quickly blinked away, turning his attention on her. Did she imagine that?
"Drake, what brings you here?"
"I heard a rumour."
She sighed, leaning on the couch. Her nose scrunched at the rancid smell of blood. Maybe they should stop killing Alphas in the basement. Especially the ones wearing heavy scent blockers. The minute they get killed, their scents burst through, mixing with the blood, and the smell is intolerable.
"Did you come all the way here to tell me that?"
"It's about Alpha Reaper"
Her ears stood in attention. About time! Allison thought as she immediately sat up and blinked at the hunter in front of her. "What is it?"
"There's a rumour that he almost started a war...with Romanos."
Allison knitted her brows together at the familiar surname. They were the talk of the town being one of the oldest werewolf clans. No wonder that Alpha Reaper chose to declare war against him. Once he defeated him, everyone will automatically know his name.
"And? Did he win?"
Drake snorted. "No. His men came back, having lost most of them in the war. It's just a rumour that he started it, but it could be anyone hiding behind his name."
That's impressive. If they could defeat such a notorious Alpha, then she should meet them. Perhaps Allison might learn a thing or two about that Reaper from the Romanos.
She hummed, licking her lips. "Yes, but it's still worth following. I want to talk to someone from the pack. Send them a message and arrange that meeting."
Luke made a sound, a grim expression overtaking his features. "Allison, they are the most powerful pack to exist. Maybe you should reconsider your decision."
"I don't care. They could be descendants of God, and it still doesn't matter. I only want to have one meeting."
The werewolves didn't scare her. Her father trained her to be strong no matter who stood in front of her. Besides, she was not going to attack any of them.
"Fine, I'll set it up."
“I want to meet the Romanos as soon as possible." Allison murmured.
