8 All eyes fell on my grandmother who’s complete focus lay on her pockets. She gave them all a brisk pat before she lifted her eyes, both brimming with tears, to my grandfather. “I’ve lost it!” Sage blinked at her. “Lost what?” “The gift that sweet man gave to me!” she bemoaned as she searched her pockets again. “It’s gone!” He nodded at the muddy road at our backs. “Perhaps it slipped out and sank into the mud on the hill.
