Chapter 5

The triplets and I were in my office finishing gup everything that needed to be completed. We were all excited about the movie that I had ordered, and we were ready to go and watch it. My phone rang just as the triplets and I were finishing up with the paperwork that had to be completed and sent to the council regarding the investigation. I hit the send button to deliver the email to the council and to the King as I answered my phone. “This is Krista, may I help you” I answered. It was Alpha Karl. “Krista, I hate to bother you at this time of night but I have just hung up with the girls. They have called and said that they want to come home and the pack will not let them leave” he said. I knew right away that he was lying. I could hear it in his voice. “I am sorry Alpha Karl, I have nothing to do with this now. As I explained earlier, the girls left on their own accord. No laws were broken, and I have no grounds to make the Hells Revenge pack turn the girls over. The girls know how to break the mate bond if they no longer want to be there. I am sorry but there is nothing more that I can do” I explained nicely. “I demand to speak to your father at once. He will go get the girls” he demanded angrily because he did not get what he wanted. “I apologize Alpha Karl, but my father no longer handles the reporting of investigations or anything else that goes along with our investigations. it has all been turned over to me by King Drake himself. I am the one that heads this department and as it is run separately than our pack. So as far as the investigation goes, I have turned in all of the paperwork and my findings to the King and to the council. If you have any issues with that, you need to speak to them. Now if you have concerns about our pack then you can try our Alpha’s phone number in which I am sure that you have. Now I will remind you of this, however, any attempt you may make or if you arrange for someone else to remove the girls without them following proper protocol will be a refusal to follow a direct order from the King and Queen themselves. So I will warn you against trying anything like that. Now I hope you have a good night” I said hanging up the phone and then sending a follow up email to the council with a copy of the phone recording of the conversation I just had with Alpha Karl thanks to an app that recorded all of my calls just for this purpose.

“Is everything ok” Brandon asked as I hit the send button on the email. “Yes. Alpha Karl is just trying to pull weight he does not have. Now let’s all go watch the movie. The snacks and drinks should already be in my room” I said changing the subject. We grabbed our things from my office and turned out the lights to go to my suite and watch the movie. My phone rang again as we were on our way to my room. “This is Krista” I answered. “Krista this is your grandfather calling again. I am sorry to bother you but Is there an issue that I need to be aware of about any changes in your report” he asked. “No sir. Not at all” I answered him. “Well I just got off the phone with your father and he is demanding that I make the girls leave immediately” he explained. I could hear the girls in the background saying they did not want to leave. “I a m sorry Grandpa, I just got off of the phone with Alpha Karl and explained that we would not be getting involved. I will go now to speak to my father. The girls may stay until either they follow protocol and reject their mates or for some reason, I get an order from the King and Queen themselves, then I personally will call you if that were to ever happen” I explained as I was getting madder and madder thinking about my father going behind my back on this. “Thank you my dear, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow then and you can verify the girls are in no harm’s way” He answered as I said goodbye and hung up the phone. “Guys we have a little delay in watching the movie” I said as I turned around to go have a conversation with my father. “Now is the time we duck and cover guys” Brandon said as I walked off storming.

“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING INTERFERING WITH MY INVESTIGATION AND GOING BEHIND MY BACK AND CALLING GRANDPA” I yelled at my father as I stormed through his office door. “Krista, you cannot let the girls remain there if they are being held against their will” he answered defending his actions. ” Did you personally speak with the girls and hear this for yourself? Because I assure you that it was not what I just heard from both of them. Actually, it was the complete opposite and begging not to be sent back to Pine Hills to Alpha Karl” I told him still furious. “I am sorry Krista I did not know. I was trying to help out a friend” he answered looking to the ground in shame. “I don’t care who you were trying to help out, that is not how I do things and you know that. That is why I was placed in charge of this department and the investigations. We go strictly by what our laws dictate. Nothing else. Now I had already sent the conversation that I had with alpha Karl to the council and to the King and Queen themselves anticipating an issue. Now I am going to go call and report this to the council in case alpha Karl decides to try to attack Grandpa’s pack” I told him as I turned around to leave. “This is all about him isn’t it Krista? Your grandfather has gotten to you and turned you against me like he did your mother” he said yelling at me. “What are you talking about Dad? What do you mean about my mother” I asked calling him out on what he just said. “Nothing” he answered. I could not believe that he dared to blame my grandfather for his lack of judgement and stupid decisions. Then he had to go and put my mom into this mess he created. That was what really pissed me off. I slammed the door on my way out causing it to splinter and break. I continued to walk despite my father’s orders to return to his office. I never had to follow my father’s orders for whatever reason. I used to when I was little or when my mother made me follow them. Now they were just a joke. As I continued to walk towards my room, the guards came to try to stop me. I turned around to look at my father and said “I am going personally to the King and Queen and ask them to remove you as Alpha from this pack for their own safety. You are clearly not fit to be Alpha, and you haven’t been since mom died. Now you want to try to have warriors that I train to arrest me for not following your orders. I don’t think so. As of right now I Krista Gregory hereby release you of all of your duties as Alpha until the investigation into this matter is over. Since I am the next in line to receive the pack, I will take over until I am relieved by one appointed by the Palace. I also hereby release your Beta from all of his duties as well for he is just as incompetent to be in his position as you are” I commanded making the warriors stop and submit to me at once. There was nothing that my father could say or do. Thankfully with the position of investigating packs for wrong doings, I was given the power to remove Alphas immediately if they were doing anything that would jeopardize the safety of the pack. This definitely fit the bill for that.

I walked into my room where the guys were hiding out waiting for me to calm down. “Congrats guys but the three of you have just been promoted to your father’s position” I informed them as I called the council for an emergency meeting. The triplets looked at me confused by what I had just told them. After I hung up with them, I called the King himself. My uncle, King Drake to let them know I was coming there to meet with him and the council. When I hung up the phone I looked at the triplets who were now stretched out across my bed waiting for us to watch the movie and I told them “We have to go guys. Movie will have to wait.” I told them, grabbing my keys and putting my phone in my bag to take with me. “Where are we going” Bryce asked as we loaded into my SUV. “To the palace” I answered. The three of them looked at me shocked. “Are you ok Krista” Brandon asked ready to go back inside and after my father if he had hurt me in any way. “I am fine. MY father just found out that I could relieve him of his duties of Alpha. As if he does anything an Alpha does anyway” I said still venting my anger. “Is the palace expecting us or will this be a surprise for them as well?” Brayden asked. “Drake knows” I answered as I peeled out of the driveway. I did not even bother to stop at the gate on my way out. The guards there must have gotten the memo not to try to stop me because they did not even try and the gate was up by the time I reached it. If it hadn’t have been I was just planning on running right through it anyways.
