Chapter Seventeen Arriving at Bet’s apartment at seven sharp with a bottle of wine in his hand made the evening feel too much like a regular date. He certainly hoped she didn’t have romance in mind, inviting him for dinner. They’d had several casual meals together as friends, but this appeared more serious. When Bet answered the door wearing a pair of silk lounging pajamas, he was even more worried. “Hi, sweetie, how are you?” she said, ushering him into her gorgeous suite of rooms.
