The weak morning light streams into Crystal’s room and wakes her. It is her first morning back in her own bed chamber after a week confined to the medical quarters. They kept her there hoping her memory would return and while her feet healed. Her feet followed the plan and were healing, but her mind had not yet healed itself. Crystal still couldn’t remember how she had come to be hurt and outside the castle.
Crystal gets out of bed when her maid knocks on the door. A bath is drawn for her by the fire, and she cleans herself. Once she’s dry and in her underwear, her maid returns to help her dress, being careful of the still healing scratches on her arms.
Crystal has been given orders by her family to rest, so she takes a needlepoint she has been working on and sits in a chair near the win
