Marriage of convenience

Eva was making breakfast and humming her favorite song in her kitchen. She was happy as Tylor industries had won a big contract, and they were celebrating it by throwing a grand party.

" Mommy!!!" Five-year-old Grayson shouted, "....breakfast?"

Eva hurried to bring him breakfast.

" Here you go, baby boy. " She caressed his head. " Your favorite scrambled eggs and chocolate shake. "

Grayson grinned at seeing his favorite breakfast. " Mom, you are the best ."

Eva smiled, feeling warmth in her heart. She married the most famous and most successful businessman, Ethan Tylor, owner of Tylor industries.

Her marriage was a business arrangement between two business families.

Her father and Ethan's father wanted to merge their businesses. So, they had a grand wedding witnessed by many people worldwide and covered by the media all over.

After spending eight years in her loveless marriage, Grayson was the only happiness she found for her. Her son. Her whole world revolved around her son.

She sighed silently, looking at her watch. Her husband would be there for breakfast anytime. So she thought about it and started making breakfast.

Ethan Tylor was her husband, a famous business tycoon, and a ruthless and cold-hearted man. He was known to be a playboy before their marriage. He dated almost every model and actress. But after he got married, he was never seen with any girl other than his wife.

He was a man with his own principles. When he took over his family business, he became the most ruthless and cold-hearted businessman who didn't think from his heart.

Eva had been in love with him for two years before their marriage. So she was over the moon when her parents proposed an arranged marriage with Ethan. He was her first crush.

But reality hit her hard after marriage. Her cold-hearted, devilishly handsome husband never had time for love. He was busy all the time.

They didn't even go on a honeymoon because Ethan was working on a deal at that time. He never used to talk to her besides her family and their son. But, she always craved his affection and attention.

He gave her everything but his heart.

After Grayson was born, she poured all her love into her son, and now she was happy with this arrangement. She was happy. At least Ethan was hers. They both now had a son who would make their connection strong.

Inside her, in the corner of her heart, there was still a hope that someday, maybe Ethan would learn to love her. She crossed her fingers with this thought.

When she was lost in her thoughts, she heard the sound of pulling a chair, which made her return to reality.

"Good morning, Dad! " Grayson greeted Ethan.

" Morning, son !" Ethan replied.

Eva turned to look at their side, finding Ethan standing near the dining table, wearing a crisp white shirt with a black suit jacket and black trousers. A red tie was knotted around his neck, looking as handsome as always.

He still had that effect on Eva. So she thought, rolling her eyes in her mind.

" I'll be late. Don't wait for me at dinner. " Ethan said after finishing his breakfast.

"Bye, champ !" And with this, he left without giving Eva a chance to say anything.

" Bye, dad!" Grayson shouted behind.

'Huh,' Eva sighed ' it's just another day,' she thought in her mind.

She started getting Grayson ready for his school.

After dropping her son off at school, she had to meet her best friend at their favorite cafe. After that, they had planned to go shopping.

" Kat !!!!" Eva shouted, seeing her best friend, Katilyne.

" Eva !" Kat hugged her best friend.

She was her childhood friend. Only she knew the truth about her marriage in this whole world. They were an ideal couple for everyone, but Kat knew her friend was not happy as she didn't get the love and attention of her husband, which she deserved.

"How 've you been ?" Kat asked.

"Same all. " Eva replied, shrugging her shoulders, and they laughed together.

Kat had already ordered coffee for her also. She knew her favorite. She also learned about Eva's crush on Ethan she had before marriage. Kat had warned her friend before her marriage about Ethan's playboy image. But Eva was blinded by his charm and was on cloud nine when she was engaged to Ethan Tylor.

" How's Ethan ?" Kat asked, cringing her nose.

" He is also the same, " Eva half-smiled.

" Oh, Eva! Why don't you leave him? He doesn't deserve you, my friend. "

" You know I can't. We have a child together. " Eva said, looking down at her coffee.

" Don't give me that sh.it, Eva. I know you always find an excuse to save your loveless marriage. " Kat was her closest friend.

She knows everything about their marriage and Eva's condition. She wanted to see Eva happy. She had suggested many times that Eva should speak to her parents.

But Eva was still hoping that one day everything would be fine and her prince charming would fall in love with her.

" Come on, bestie! Now stop lecturing me, and let's go shopping ." Eva said, trying to change her mood. She knew how much Kat disliked Ethan for being cold towards her.

" I have to get a dress for Ethan's business event. And you have to help me to find the hottest one. Okay? " She was supposed to accompany her husband to every business event, and one was coming as Ethan's company achieved a big success in a current venture. So they were celebrating his success.

" Okay, bestie! Let's go. " Kat chirped, pulling Eva's hand. Eva threw some bills on the table and was dragged towards the exit by Kat. They laughed and left for shopping.
