Little Wolf

Hearing all the commotion downstairs, little wolf comes bopping down the steps."Wow, what is all the noise?" She asked while raiding the fridge. "What's for breakfast ? I am starving."

"I made your favorite hot cereal Oatmeal, and here's your toast all buttered." Dove handed her the bowl and plate she had all set for her.

"I know father said that our schools would merge together, but I like my school the way it is. I am in the top five highest students, and I don't want to mess that up. Isn't there any way we can stay here till the end of the school year? I don't understand why our two tribes have to merge. We each are strong in our own way."

"Little wolf, your father and the chiefs feel if we merge our two tribes together, we will be stronger. We need to protect what we have. This is the year our legend will be fulfilled."

"Ya, I know. A child becoming of age will have the power of shape shifting. We all know that story and one child will possess the power to shape shift into more than one of the spirit animals they are linked to.Mom, it's just a story."

"What are you to mumbling about? It sounds like a serious conversation."Bear asked his daughter.

"Oh, nothing, mom, and I was talking about the story we are told since we were little about that special child. I have a hard time believing it. I know we all have a spirit animal that guides us in our thoughts, but we don't really turn into that animal. Well, I am off to work. Thanks for breakfast."And out the door she goes.

Running Bear mind links his son.'Come to the house we need to talk'

'Yes, sir, I am on my way.' He answered back.

Dove, Bear, and Eagle sit down and discuss the information that was delivered to Bear this morning.

"The tribe over the mountain knows that Wolfy is becoming of age. They also know what powers she carries. I was told the chiefs son wants her for his mate. But our chief, along with Chief Rivers, has already chosen her mate. We must protect her. She doesn't know of her powers yet, and I hope she will have time to learn of them before she is mated. "

"My sister is a very special child. She is very intelligent and innocent. Her heart is pure and easily fooled. My spirit animal brought me a message. There is one among us that is a skin walker. They are dangerous and seek power only to destroy. We must keep her from that warrior. "Eagle tells his father.

"I knew of this from my spirit animal as well. They are very concerned because this skin walkers identity has not yet been given. I feel we will be able to know who it is as wolfy gets closer to becoming of age. But then again, we may not know until she is mated to someone."

"The decision was made to keep an eye on wolfy without causing her to ask questions. It's not time for her to know of her powers yet."Father informs them.

At the trading post, Wolfy starts getting the orders together for her regular customers when Stalking Tiger comes in. Rolling her eyes, she tries to hide behind the counter.

"Why are you hiding down there?You know I can still see you, sunshine."

"Why do you call me that?My name is Little Wolf, and everyone calls me Wolfy."

"I am not everyone .I am the chiefs son, and I can call you whatever I want."

"Just because you are his son doesn't give you the right to call her that. She doesn't like it."Fawn speaks up to him.

"You need to shut up. I will do as I please." He tells her in a rude voice.

"See, that's why I don't talk to you. You are a jerk and totally rude." Wolfy spats back at him."Go away and leave me alone.

"We shall see you again. I think it would be funny if I was chosen as your partner to be. Then I would call you sunshine all the time."He laughs as he walks away.

"What a jerk, and I am so sorry he talks to you that way. He has no manors."

"It's OK. I have learned to dismiss his rude comments. I know he's a jerk."

Fawn and Wolfy finish up the orders and get the rest of their chores done. The day passes quickly, and soon, it's time to head home. Parting ways Wolfy feels like she's not alone. Walking to her house, she senses that someone is following her. The smell tells her that they are not of her tribe. She has always smelled flowers when she is around her tribes people.This smell was harsh and burning her nose. Feeling tense, she wishes in her mind that her father was with her.

'Eagle wolfy is in trouble. I can feel her fear. 'Bear mind links his son.

Meeting up outside, they head out to find Wolfy. They too came smell the harsh burning sent of those who are stalking her. Seeing her walking, they circle around and find the two following her. She can smell the harsh scent, get stronger, and then dissappear . She feels the heavy air of death and then feels it fade away. Turning around, she sees her father and brother walking towards her.

"Did you two smell that awful scent? It burned my nose and made me feel afraid. By the way, where did you two come from?

"We knew you were afraid. We could feel it so we went looking for you. And look, we found you."Eagle poked his sisters arm. "Race you to the house. One, two,three go."

"You two go ahead. I am too old to run like that. Circling back around Bear and two warriors he mind linked took care of the dead warriors. They were from the tribe over the mountain. Bear knew that now he had to really watch his daughter and get the two tribes merged together as soon as possible. The chiefs son was after Wolfy, and he wasn't going to stop till he got her.

"I beat you, dear brother of mine. I told you you were too slow."Wolfy was laughing as her brother walked up the steps.

"Mom, I am home and hungry. What's for supper?"Wolfy asked, flying into the kitchen

Giving her a glass of milk and some homemade cookie, her mother tells her to chill out till her father gets home."Remember. he's slower than you two."

Eagle mind links his mother to update her on what happened. 'This makes me feel very uneasy about letting her out of our sight.'She linked back.

Bear finally comes walking into the kitchen. "What's for supper?"He asks as he kisses his wife's check.

"I swear you two are just alike. Always hungry. " She serves supper and then the dessert.

Wolfy sits and chats with her brother for a while and then does her homework. She's trying very hard to make top honors. Putting her homework aside, she calls her friend Fawn.

"Tonight, when I was walking home, I think someone was following me. I kept smelling this harsh scent that burned my nose. It was awful. I was thankful when my father and brother showed up.. Anyway, what topic were you thinking about for our school project. I can't think of anything, so I was hoping you could."

Fawn thinks for a moment and giggles a little."Let's do an essay on why Stalking Tiger is so rude."Wolfy busts out laughing. "I am sure we would get in trouble over that one. What about if we do one on the legend of the old waterfall. I have heard the warriors talk about it. Maybe they can tell us about it. Let's plan on talking to them tomorrow."

"I think that's a great idea.Its something different from everyone else. "With them agreeing on that, the girls call it a night. Wolfy lays in bed thinking about the old waterfalls and finally drifts off to sleep.
