But unfortunately, just like every other moment we had been able to have, this one lasted no more than a few seconds. My eyes opened in an instant, my eyes finding my way to hers, searching for a reason as to why she was pulling away. I moved forward as she moved backwards, desperate to feel the warmth of her lips for just another second. But I had been postponing the inevitable.
I could have sworn that the temperature dropped the moment that our lips finally disconnected. I found myself frowning for the one and a millionth time, but unlike all of the previous times, it wasn’t to blame on my confusion. Rather, it was to blame on my uncertainty. Had I perhaps misread the signals? I had done so before, which meant that it wouldn’t be entirely impossible for it to happen again.
