The Bloodclaws

Christopher was furious as he drove to the council house. He didn’t understand why he had to go through all of this. It wasn’t right. He had defeated the Silverpaws fair and square. Their pack should be his! If only he had been able to completely wipe out the swift family he wouldn’t be dealing with this. If that girl and her mother had died then he would be the new Alpha of a combined pack. But no. Instead the mother was threatening to have outsiders come and prevent him from taking what was his. He was having more problems than he ever thought he would. He growled loudly and tightened his grip on the steering wheel.  He had originally wanted to shift into his wolf form and run to the council house, but his Luna had talked him out of it. He had to take things with him and it would have been too hard to do that as a wolf.  So even if he needed the release, running would have provided, he was driving.  He was the only member of his pack that was summoned, but he wasn’t the only one going. He had planned to go by himself, he didn’t need anyone to back him up. He was strong on his own and he was going to show that. But than he heard the other Alpha had been told to bring his son. That didn’t sit right with him so he dragged his son, Roman, along. Roman had not wanted to go and he wasn't afraid to show it. Christopher knew why. He wanted to stay home with that girl that he thought was his mate. He did not approve of the girl and had refused to allow his son to mark her. He knew Roman resented him for it, but he didn’t care. He was confident that he knew best. Some day his son will come to his senses and find an appropriate mate. And when that happened he didn’t want that girl holding him back.  Father and son said nothing as they continued to drive. It was more comfortable that way. Then Roman broke the silence without looking up at his father.  “Why are we doing this again?” He couldn’t hide his annoyance and disinterest in this whole trip.  “Because that little girl and her mother are creating problems and won’t give me what is rightfully mine.” He frowned and took a turn too fast. “And since their former Luna’s daddy is threatening to get involved we have to plead our case.”  “I understand that.” Roman said glaring at his father. “But why do I have to go? I saw the summons. They were just for you.” “Because I wasn’t going to be the only one alone.  It looks like we are less than if we are the only pack without a group. And I want everyone to remember that if anything happens to me I have a son.” “Alpha Swift had two sons.” Roman said as he rolled his eyes. “Doesn’t seem like it did him a lot of good.”   “Well of course not.” Christopher said an eerie grin slid over his lips. “I killed them” Of Course Roman knew that, but Christopher  just wanted to remind him.  “Yeah dad I know. You killed them and ended the male line. You don’t have to keep talking about it.” Roman really didn’t want to be three and he was lashing out about it. “Yes. I do!” Christopher growled. He noticed his son’s unhappiness and he didn't like it. Even if Roman was his son he didn’t tolerate back talk. He saw more defiance in Roman’s eyes and he reached over the console so he could smack him.  Roman let out a growl and he turned to face his father. HIs eyes were dark with anger and it almost looked like he was going to hit him back. “Why the hell did you just hit me?” “Because you argued. I already told you not to run your mouth, but you don’t listen. I needed to do something to make it stick.” He paused and rolled his eyes. “I should hit you again for questioning me.” “I thought you were supposed to be an alpha, not a dictator.” Roman said, still glaring at his father. “Any alpha who doesn’t dictate when the rules aren't being followed is weak.” Christopher growled he felt like he should smack his son again, but he fought that urge. If he hit Roman a second time he would probably turn into a fight which would be awful in a car.  “Any alpha who puts his own twisted plans and prejudices above the wished of the moon goddess aren’t good alphas." Roman snapped at him.  Christopher growled again. This time he was so angry he caused the car to swerve. He knew exactly what his son was talking about and he didn’t like it. “If you are talking about your so called mate you can stop right now. She is not worthy of you. The sooner you learn that the happier you’ll be.” They had discussed this so many times and Christopher was sick and tired of it.  “There is no so called about it. She is my mate and by not letting us be together you are hurting us both.” “She can’t be your mate” Christopher snapped. “It’s just an infatuation that you have mistaken for a mate spark.” His son was going to be alpha someday. He could see how he could have mated with a nobody.  "Yes she is.” Roman said through gritted teeth,. “And it's insulting to her me and the moon goddess that you refuse to let us be together.” If Roman had been arguing with him about something else Christopher would have been a little proud that he was finally showing some backbone. It was just sad that he had picked such a stupid thing to be stubborn about. “Stop.” He commanded using his alpha voice. “If you don’t stop whining about that girl I’ll sure it is not an issue ever again.” The last part was said calmly. He had no doubt that Roman knew he would kill her if he had to. Roman knew exactly what his father was trying to say. So instead of replying he just huffed and turned to look out the window. Maybe once the council gave his father his new territory he would be happy enough to allow him to mate Chrissy.
