Akiko’s heart fluttered. She’d felt like it had fallen through her stomach ever since she almost ran into Jamie’s father at practice. She knew she hadn’t done anything wrong, but she wished she would have thought about it beforehand. Of course, Jamie’s parents would be there; they were here for parents’ weekend. Although, she couldn’t be expected to know what normal parents would do. Obviously, Jamie’s parents were extraordinary too, but they were here at a perfectly normal parents’ weekend with their son. Her parents hadn’t even bothered to ask her anything about school that wasn’t related to her overall safety; They only wanted to ensure their precious daughter would come back in one piece to produce them an heir.
“Ugh,” she moaned to herself.
