Adonis’s POV
I couldn’t stay in Harrisburg any longer. My wounds were better, although my movements were restricted until they completely healed. Alpha Augustin urged me to rest for two more days, but I felt a desperation that wouldn’t go until I found my mate.
Marina’s disappearance made my heart bleed. My life had no meaning without her. I felt a vacuum that no one else could fill up. I had to find her and bring her back into my life. There had to be an explanation for her behavior. It couldn’t be just concern for her shop that drove her away from me.
“Keep in touch, Adonis. If Kessler harasses you, reach out to the Shifter Council. They’ll surely help you out.” I nodded at Augustin absent-mindedly, unable to tell him the real reason for my state.
