Marina’s POV
Fear clutched my heart as I turned to escape all the way back to the hotel. I knew someone was watching me from the limestone cavern on the other side of the creek. A strange scent lurked in the air, making me feel like a prey. Who could it be? I now repented, having listened to Mia.
An angry growl near me alerted me, and I ran for my life. I could feel footsteps following me and panic settled in my heart.
“Stop!” growled a raspy voice behind me. It was the voice of a mature male wolf and I trembled with fear. Would he kill me? I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Yet they outran me, surrounding me from all sides.
‘Mia! Please don’t stop!’ I begged her, but she was cornered and there was no avenue for escape.
