Chapter 41: Why Defend?

“Are you sure you are okay?” Adam asked me as we sat back on our chairs.
I glanced around and noticed that a few customers had entered the café. Fixing my gaze to the food on our table as I nodded. “Yeah. I just feel a bit nauseous. That’s all,” I dismissively said. I took the ice cream poon and dived into the vanilla-flavored ice cream.
The nauseous feeling I had disappeared. Adam was silently watching me, assessing every move I made. “You’re not… pregnant, right?” he chuckled.
I rolled my eyes at him and took a bite of the toasted pianono roll. “You wish,” Adam laughed at my response and ate. Why would he think I’m pregnant? That would be impossible for a man like me to bear a child.
