The following day everyone gathered around the palace, they were all busy preparing for the arrival of the princess, princess Tiara, Kaden's soon-to-be bride.
They called her the Spanish princess, she got the title because it had been years since the Santana Kingdom had a princess. For over a hundred years the queens gave birth to sons only and her arrival was a miracle.
They gave her so much respect in her kingdom, even much more than her elder brother, the crowned prince. She made everyone smile wherever she went. Not once had she ever made anyone in her kingdom feel like they didn't belong or look down on them because she is a princess.
Everyone in the kingdom loves her, I mean who wouldn't? She is the kind of person who spreads love everywhere. She may be kind-hearted but she is no way near weak, she is a fierce fighter and can easily take more than a hundred men on her own. It is one of the reasons she is always in battles whenever Santana kingdom faces war.
Her father has tried to get her to do other things other than fight but he always gets the same reply. Why should I stop father? Do you want me, your daughter, to be those kinds of princesses who just sit around and be told what to do? I will never do that.
The king finally gave up and he also gave up on the idea of her getting married one day. When she said she had no problem getting married, the king was overjoyed and fixed the marriage proposal from the king, King Kelvin Morgan of Mercy.
The Mercy kingdom's king has been looking for a bride to marry his eldest son and Tiara's father couldn't let the opportunity pass him by. They fixed the date for them to meet and discuss the wedding arrangements.
When the Spanish royal family arrived at Mercy, Princess Tiara couldn't help but admire its beauty, her kingdom was beautiful but Mercy was also beautiful.
"Father, I can't help but wonder what it would be like to live here. Do you think they will allow me to go into battles with them?"
"Mija, I've never heard of a queen who goes into battles in the Mercy Kingdom. You are here to be a wife and the future queen, not a warrior." The king replied, sometimes he failed to understand his daughter.
"That's okay, I'll be the first one then. I've heard the prince is also a warrior so I know it will be easy to convince him to go with me, he can help me train if he doubts that I can fight. I'll be his wife after all."
"How many times must I tell you that not all kingdoms are like Santana? They have different customs and traditions and they may not allow you to even train."
"If I don't train what will I be doing? I'm not going to be the queen that just sit around and bark orders everywhere and smiles at everybody who visits the kingdom. I just-" She stopped midsentence when she saw Logan talking to some guards. "Who's that?" She asked the royal driver that was sent to drive them to the palace.
"That's prince Logan, your highness. He is the king's elder son."
"Oh thank you." She couldn't help but look at him a little longer. He had the perfect physique and Tiara felt really happy to be his bride, it was a little early to say bride but she couldn't wait to become his.
She didn't even realise when they reached the palace because all she could think about was Logan.
"Welcome to my kingdom King Santana and your daughter. I'm pleased to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine King Morgan. You have a beautiful kingdom and my daughter seems to like it."
"That's good, she will be a queen of this kingdom one day. Let's go inside so that you can meet the rest of my family, they're waiting." He led them inside and they began the introductions.
"King Santana, this is my wife, Queen Liliana Morgan, Prince Clayton Morgan, and his fiancèe, Arianna Santos, Princess Malia Morgan, and my son, your future son-in-law, Prince Kaden Morgan."
"What?! Father?" She couldn't help but feel betrayed, she was told she was marrying the eldest son of the prince and from what she gathered, Kaden or whatever his name was was not the eldest son.
"You look just like your mother dear, she was just as beautiful as you." King Santana said looking at Arianna and approaching her. He touched her right cheek and Arianna looked puzzled.
"You knew my mother?"
"She was my sister, my twin sister actually. She ran away with your father when our parents refused to get them married. I never knew she had a daughter."
"She died when I was a baby, my father died before I was even born. I don't really know them or any of my family."
"We're your family, you're a Santana by blood. You're a princess and you will always be."
"Can someone just tell me what is going on? Arianna, I'm glad that I now have a cousin but forgive me because I'm trying to understand what is going on. Where is Logan? Is he not the one I'm supposed to marry?"
"What do you mean by that?" It was Kaden who spoke and Tiara didn't miss the hate in his voice when he asked that.
"I was told that my soon-to-be husband is the King's elder son and you're not."
"What is the meaning of this? You told me my daughter was marrying your eldest and yet now you're saying she's going to marry your second son? Do you take me for a fool?" King Santana asked as he stepped away from Arianna and looked at King Kelvin, obviously waiting for an explanation.
"Your highness, don't be offended. I wrote the letter, Logan's not my son, Kaden is. The bride we're looking for is for Kaden, not Logan."
"That doesn't change anything. Your husband should've informed me about any of that. Your letter said that Kaden is the eldest but from what we heard, he's not. How do you expect my daughter to marry into a family of liars? We're going back to Santana right away. Let's go, Mija, we'll not stay here. Arianna, it was nice meeting you dear, we hope you visit us sometimes. I'll ask one of my guards to give you our address and phone numbers. Call us anytime."
"No father we're not leaving. I'm a princess and I always keep my word. I came here to marry a prince and that's what I'm going to do. I want to meet Logan, I'm his bride after all."
"What do you mean? Tiara, we're are leaving."
"Father, are you not the one who asked me to come here? I'm not leaving without meeting him. A Santana doesn't back away from her word and I gave you my word that I'll marry King Morgan's elder son."
After realising that she wasn't leaving, her father asked King Kelvin Morgan to send for his son. Logan was surprised when he was told his attention was needed in the palace. What could they possibly want from him now?
When he arrived in the palace, he didn't need to be told they've been waiting for him. He saw unfamiliar faces and he assumed they were the king and his daughter from the Santana Kingdom. He couldn't take his eyes off the princess but then he reminded himself that she was betrothed to his brother.
"Father, you sent for me. I hope everything is good?" It sounded more like a question though he intended to make it a statement.
"So you're Logan Morgan?" King Santana asked him as he rose from his seat and approached him.
"It's Logan Fairchild, your highness. I use my mother's name." He didn't understand why he asked him that question though.
"That doesn't matter. Logan, this is my daughter, Princess Tiara Santana, your fiancèe. She is to stay with you for the remaining days before the wedding. The wedding is next month and as Santanas, we have a tradition that says that the bride has to stay with her groom for at least a month before the wedding. Whether it is our daughter or our son who is getting married, we follow that tradition. I have brought my daughter to you and I hope you'll treat her well. From now on, you're my son-in-law but if you ever mistreat her, I will hunt you down and you won't even see me coming. Do you understand me?"
"Your highness, if you don't mind me asking. Isn't your daughter supposed to marry Kade?"
"Who's Kade?" It was Tiara who asked.
"My brother, Kaden. I thought you are to be betrothed to him."
"I was promised the king's eldest son. He's not."
"I'm sorry Princess. You were promised the crowned prince of Mercy, I'm not."
"It doesn't matter, I'm here now and I'm here to marry you, Prince Logan Fairchild."
"I have a long journey ahead of me. I'm sorry I can't stay. Take care of my daughter, Logan." The king said as he hugged his daughter and Arianna too, leaving Logan confused as to why.
"Welcome to the family, Tiara. It's good to have another sister in this palace. You and I are going to be friends." Malia said as she approached her and offered her a hug, Tiara hugged her back.
"Thank you, sister-in-law. I'm sure we'll get along very well."
"You can call me Malia, you're my sister now."
"Thank you but I'd like to call you sister-in-law."
"That's okay. Come, I'll take you to your room, it was prepared before you came in."
"I would really appreciate that. I had a long flight and no offence, your driver took his time driving us here."
"Come this way. Forgive him, he's new and he's trying to win us over. Killing our guests in a car accident will cost him his head and I'm sure that's not what he wants."
"His head? Would your father really do that?"
"Figuratively. Don't worry." Malia said laughing, Tiara decided at that time that she is a very nice person and that she is more like her.
They finally reached her room after passing so marry corridors. If she didn't get lost the next time she leaves her room she would be amazed. She then realised that the room seemed to be prepared a few hours ago, meaning Logan doesn't sleep in it.
"Where does your brother sleep? We are supposed to share the same room." She couldn't help but ask.
"Do you like him that much?" Malia gave her a mischievous grin.
"No, it's not that. I just thought he'll be staying in this same room with me. That's what my mother told me. It's how things are done in Santana."
"My dear sister-in-law, that's not how things are done here. You will get to sleep in the same room as him once you get married, for now, you'll sleep in separate rooms."
"That's okay. I'll do that, but I want to know where he sleeps. I just don't want to bother anyone whenever I want to talk to him." She insisted, she had a feeling there was something the princess was hiding from her and she wanted to know what.
"My brother doesn't stay with us here in the palace, he stays in Mercia. It's a small village, it's not far from here."
"Then what am I doing here? Sister-in-law, in case you didn't hear what my father said, a princess from Santana stays with her husband a month before their wedding. I am no different, I'll stay with my husband-to-be until our wedding. Take me to where he stays and ask your maids to bring all my luggage."
If the people of Mercy didn't know who she is before she came here, then they will know her.
"I'll take you to him, you'll go back with him. I have an appointment with my tutor in 15 minutes. I'll ask someone to bring everything you'll need to you once I'm done."
When they got downstairs Logan was nowhere to be seen. Malia asked the guards to take her there. Gail was surprised to see her, and when Tiara introduced herself as Logan's bride, her daughter-in-law, she couldn't hide the surprise in her face.
She couldn't wait for Logan to get back from wherever he was and explain everything.
