For a long time, Vin slept. When he woke up, he wondered what he would do about magic for the next month; with his ability gone for the time being, he couldn't help feeling a little at sea. He pushed the cloth draped on him away, and he stood up from the bed. He walked out of the room, and saw Jem at the table with the little girl.
Jem told Vin to sit down and then himself left the room. He returned from the kitchen with a plate of hot food, and set it in front of Vin. He spoke to Vin, "Dena has eaten so, when you are done, you can take her home. She knows the way."
The man couldn't wait to devour the meal. When he was done, he took Dena's hand, and left the house. Jem waved as them out the door. Dena showed a brilliant smile at the man and Jem returned it warmly.
