Chapter 2 A Strange Old Man

1003 Words
Seeing that it was a call from her mother, Mu Yu couldn't be bothered with chasing after the car anymore and picked up the call immediately. She answered her mum, smiling apologetically, and the next second, an ear-splitting voice pierced through. "If you don't arrive at True Love in ten minutes, don't ever think of bringing Mu into the house!" "I'm arriving soon, right away!" Mu Yu hung up the phone while she turned around. Looking at Mu that was injured, she felt sorry and comforted it with a whisper while tying it up again. She rushed to True Love western restaurant's small parking lot, locked her scooter and walked into the restaurant while wiping away her sweat. "How dare you stare at me? I'm going to beat you up!" Mu Yu was shocked by the sudden yell coming from the back. She turned around only to see an old man with grey hair hitting Mu. Taken aback, she hurriedly ran back. "Grandpa, why are you hitting my Mu?" she grabbed the old man and questioned. "He stared at me! How dare he stare at me?!" The old man pushed her away aggressively and raised his arms against Mu again. "Sigh! Grandpa." Mu Yu hastily pulled Mu to her back and smiled apologetically. "He's not staring at you. That's just the way he looks at people." She could tell that the old man was mentally abnormal. "He raised his head so high up! He's obviously not taking me seriously! Let's see how fully fledged he is!" The old man pulled his sleeves up and stepped forward again in an overbearing manner. "Give way!" "Grandpa, you misunderstood. He's." Before she could finish explaining, the old man picked up a broom and whacked Mu's leg. Mu Yu rushed forward in panic, hugging the old man and yelling, "You can't hit him!" "He won't be obedient without beating! Go away!" yelled the old man. "Don't! Don't hit Mu!" Mu Yu almost cried. What bad luck had gotten into Mu today? First, it was a car accident and now he was getting beaten up by someone. Just as she ran out of solutions, a security guard rushed over, moving Mu secretly and pretending to be scolding, "You rascal, how dare you not listen to your grandfather? Do you need s******g? Face the wall and ponder about your fault!" "No lunch for you!" The old man finally stopped his anger when he saw Mu turned around to face his back toward him. "That's right, he'll be good after one meal of hunger!" The security quickly played along and changed the topic. "Uncle, let's leave him standing there. You should go have your lunch first." "Eat?" The old man licked his lips, put down the broom and spoke to Mu Yu. "Little missy, I want to eat. I'm hungry." "Huh?" Mu Yu was stunned. She was here for a blind date though. "Girl, just get him some food, or else he's going to start hitting your Mu again," the security guard urged. Mu Yu took a look at Mu nervously and turned around scrutinizing the old man. Although he looked wretched, he was well dressed; it seemed like he was from a wealthy family. Remembering his reprimands on Mu, she guessed that he was upset by his unscrupulous posterity due to the uneven distribution of wealth. Her compassionate nature rose, and she forgave the old man's 'violence' toward Mu. After showing her gratitude towards the security guard, she guided the old man to the restaurant and went over to the table number her mom mentioned. "Excuse me, are you Mr. Xiao?" she asked cautiously when she saw a tall, thin man looking at the menu. The tall, thin man's eyes brightened as he saw her. He got up from his seat immediately and nodded. "I am Xiao Qi, you must be Mu Yu, right? Oh wow, you look prettier in real life!" "Thank you." Mu Yu wiped her sweat. Xiao Qi chivalrously pulled her chair out and asked, "What would you like to have?" Before Mu Yu spoke, the old man interrupted preemptively, "Steak." That was only when Xiao Qi noticed the old man and asked incredulously, "He is_" "I am grandpa." The old man sat down boldly. "Your grandpa?" Xiao Qi felt even weirder. "Who brings their grandfather to a blind date?" "Nah!" Mu Yu surreptitiously pointed at the old man's brain and explained vaguely. "He kept mumbling about being hungry and none of his family members were around. I found him pitiful so I brought him here to get some food." "You are such a kind girl but you shouldn't mess with this kind of person. Just in case no one comes for him, he will bilk at your place and rely on you for everything." Xiao Qi lectured her, sounding experienced. He then stood up and got a waiter. "Get him bread and get him out to eat. Count it on me," he pointed at the old man and said. "You go out and eat. Count it on my bill." the old man said and happily moved Xiao Qi's cutlery set to place it in front of himself. "Hey!" Xiao Qi held onto the cutleries and shouted with contempt. "What are you doing?" Splash! The old man poured lemonade at Xiao Qi and cried grievously to Mu Yu. "He glared at me!" "s**t!" Xiao Qi wiped away the lemonade on his face angrily and scolded without caring about his image anymore. "You old man! Go away!" "He's still scolding me! I'm going to hit him!" The old man stood up, took the chopsticks and started hitting Xiao Qi. "Grandpa! No!" "Damn it! How dare you hit me? I'm gonna get you good now!" "Mr. Xiao, stop!" Bang! "Ouch!" Swoosh_ Before Mu Yu could react, Xiao Qi was knocked onto the ground and the table was flipped over. Instinctively, she turned her head to see who it was, and at once, she became startled. It was him!
