Chapter 19: I Don't Drink Alcohol!

1693 Words
After talking for an hour or two, Smith finally let Jack leave with some reluctance. Jack could see— Smith's passion for ancient Chinese martial arts was absolutely more than trivial. Once he got started, his words flowed like an endless river, and Jack found it hard to interject a word about leaving. They continued to discuss deeply until Jack ran out of things to say, as his own understanding of Chinese academia wasn’t extensive. After leaving the University of Houston, Jack casually hailed a taxi, planning to head home. The scenery along the way was plentiful—traffic and high-rise buildings. At dusk. The lights came on, adding a layer of vivid colors to the surroundings. Jack wasn't in the mood to appreciate these sights. He carelessly looked out the taxi window at the outside world. The flow of pedestrians indicated that the end of the workday had arrived. "Hm?" Jack suddenly paused. "Qingshi Jewelry—" These four characters were written on the side of the building. It wasn't hard to tell that this was a place that specialized in selling jewelry and women's accessories. "Driver, please stop here!" When Jack saw these four characters, something stirred in his heart, and he immediately shouted. "Alright!" The driver pulled over and stopped the car. Jack paid the fare, stepped out of the car, and looked at the building. He realized— He had never bought anything for his sister. Like those office workers, always in a rush when leaving and returning, he never took the time to really care for his family. Passing by Qingshi Jewelry today, Jack couldn't resist the urge to buy some accessories for his sister. Though he knew the jewelry would be expensive, and the money he had on him might not be enough, Jack still wanted to go inside to have a look. He just wanted to make his sister a bit more beautiful. Taking a deep breath, Jack intended to enter the Qingshi Jewelry building. However, as he turned, he caught sight of a familiar figure in a restaurant across the building. The figure was slender and graceful, clearly revealing an elegant body curve. "It's her!" Jack paused momentarily. The woman had changed into a different color outfit. Today, she was wearing a purple tight-fitting dress, her legs tightly enclosed by the fabric, her hair up with ornaments adding to her allure, giving off the vibe of a domestic woman. This woman appeared to be in her mid to late twenties, radiating mature charm, with a figure that captivates, and long, shapely legs that could easily be categorized as stunning. She fit the archetype of a mature woman perfectly. She sat in the chair, sipping red wine, her high heels dangled off her toes, casually moving and thereby revealing her pale, soft insteps. Beautiful feet. Jack couldn't forget this woman who seemed fairy-like. Whether it was her looks or her aura, she vividly resembled a fairy. A glance at her inevitably sparked imaginations related to bedroom antics, as if she was on the bed, moaning, provocatively challenging you. Diana. Her name is Diana. Jack had seen this woman on his first day as Lucy's bodyguard. Diana was sitting in this restaurant, sipping wine, laughing and chatting with other women who were dressed provocatively, some even in risque outfits. Jack took a deep breath. Just one look at this woman and he often couldn't resist taking a second glance. Today, she was wearing a tight dress that perfectly outlined her bust, making one curious to know whether underneath that dress, her 'little bunnies' were covered with a layer of cute bra. Jack knew his thoughts were sinful, but he couldn't help it—it was hard for any man to keep from fantasizing in front of this woman. "Why is this woman here?" Jack couldn't help but wonder. But upon further reflection, what did it matter to him whether she was here or not? They were merely two ships passing in the night. Shaking his head, he prepared to enter the Qingshi Jewelry building. But just as he was about to turn around again— Diana suddenly spotted him. Her beautiful eyes surveyed him, and the next moment, through the window, she laughed delicately and waved at him. Jack stopped dead in his tracks. Since the woman had greeted him, he supposed he should respond. Thinking this, he also waved his hand, and after waving, he prepared to turn and go on his way. But apparently, he hadn't fully grasped the meaning behind her wave. Seeing Jack wave back, Diana straightened her high heels, put them on, and then clip-clopped out of the restaurant. "Hey, handsome, if sister is inviting you in, do you really need her to ask you personally?" Diana blinked her eyes and said, "Are you interested in coming over for a drink?" "Drink what?" Jack asked, puzzled. "Drink wine, of course!" Diana laughed sweetly. Jack blushed and shook his head, "I don't drink alcohol!" "You don't drink alcohol!" Diana giggled, "You're all grown up and you don't know how to drink? What about wine, do you drink wine?" "I don’t drink any alcohol." Jack's face turned an even deeper shade of red. His tolerance for alcohol was very poor, truly pitiful. It seemed, for a man, not drinking alcohol could be considered an embarrassing matter, something he hadn't realized before. And now Diana had already crossed the street and arrived in front of Jack. "Is your face red?" "No!" Jack denied. "Your face turned red when you saw me?" Diana emphasized. "I didn’t!" Diana covered her stomach, laughing again irresistibly, her lips seeming as tempting as ripe cherries, making one itch to bite them. Indeed, Jack's face had turned red. Initially, his blush was due to admitting he didn’t drink alcohol, but then, it was because he accidentally glimpsed what seemed to be a hint of cleavage as she laughed. It made him wonder— Whether she wore a bra or not. This woman was truly beautiful. "What are you doing standing around here?" Diana, having had her laugh, suddenly changed the subject and looked towards the building. "Buying jewelry!" Jack answered truthfully. Diana sounded surprised, speaking softly, "Wow, didn’t see that coming. You look quite handsome; does that mean your wallet is equally impressive? The jewelry here starts at least from fifty thousand. How about sister checks how much money you have in your pocket? Cards are fine too!" "Fifty thousand to start?" Jack took a step back, astonished. “What’s wrong, handsome boy? Don’t tell me you wanted to shop at Qingshi Jewelry without having that kind of money," Diana blinked and said. Jack remained silent. The starting price was indeed fifty thousand. Qingshi Jewelry seemed ridiculously unaffordable. Ordinary people really couldn’t afford anything here. "You wanted to buy accessories here?" Diana asked. "Yes!" Jack nodded. Diana thumped Jack's arm, laughing, "Okay, I didn't expect you, who seem so honest and naive, to buy jewelry. Is it for your girlfriend?" "No, it's for my sister!" Jack looked at the aquamarine jewelry, feeling a bit disappointed. When you set your heart on buying something, and when you get to the place, you discover that what you have and what is for sale are as different as heaven and earth, you probably feel the same way. Fortunately, it’s not too high for him to look up. "Buying for your sister?" Diana laughed, "Young man, you are really interesting. Where else would a younger brother buy such expensive gifts for their sister. However, do you really want to buy jewelry here?" "Yes!" Jack nodded. He then shook his head, "I wanted to at first, but now..." He sighed, the most tragic thing in life is, when you eagerly want to do something, only to find out you can't. "I know you don't have enough money, I can help you." Diana smiled enchantingly. Jack's heart thumped. When this woman smiles— Why does she look so like a hungry she-wolf when she smiles? Diana said, "I can help you, but—" "But what?" Jack asked immediately. "But, you have to accompany me to have a few drinks. My sisters haven't had a taste of a young man as fresh as you! If I bring you to them, they will definitely be excited." Having said this, Diana reached out her slender, white fingers and flicked Jack's face. Jack retreated a step. A wary look crept into his eyes. Diana couldn't help but cover her stomach and laugh. "Can you, young man... stop being so entertaining!" She was clearly laughing so hard that she was having trouble speaking. After the woman had laughed for a while, she finally asked, "Are you going to accompany me for drinks or not?" "Can you really help me?" Jack was somewhat incredulous. "What’s there to lie about? I have done business with your boss, deceiving a little boy like you, what's the point?" Diana raised her eyebrows and said. She made a very reasonable point. Would a woman who was able to collaborate with Lucy, deceive him? "Can we not go?" Jack hesitated a bit. Why did it feel like he was about to be devoured by a group of women? "If you don't go, I won't help you!" Diana's face darkened, threatening. Jack was thinking, thinking, and thinking, hesitating, hesitating, and hesitating. He finally made up his mind. "Alright!" in English. He wanted to buy some jewelry for his sister. At worst, he might be subjected to some flirtation by those women, but definitely, Jack thought, as a principled man, he absolutely couldn't go as far as to sacrifice himself. He believed— Sex and love come together. Without love, wouldn't s*x be a bit lackluster? Soon after, Jack followed Diana into the restaurant. "Diana, where did you find this handsome young man?" "Oh Diana, how did you know this is exactly my type? Did you find him just for me? Hmm, not exactly a pretty boy, but his skin looks good. Yep, very tender. Looks like he's in his twenties, oh dear, the young man is even blushing!"
