#musicvibe - Bring me to life, Evanescence.
*
Valeria POV
I was nervous.
For the past two days, we had been going over different strategies to get me out of here, but no matter which route we tried, we always hit a dead end. I hated risking the lives of Alex, Lara and Joey, and all the suggestions were just too risky. Since my powers were still suppressed by the dampening cuffs I was wearing, I was really dependent on their help and I hated it.
It was early morning when I was sitting on the desk chair, my hands stretched out in front of me while Lara was inspecting the cuffs for the millionth time.
“There is no keyhole.” She muttered. “Looks like it’s an electronic lock. Maybe an electromagnetic pulse could make them stop working and you could use your powers to get out of here yourself.”
I nodded.
“Anyone know how to create an EMP?” I asked.
The vampires glanced at each other in uncertainty and Lara shrugged.
“I’ve only seen it on TV.” She replied sheepishly. “I have no idea how to do it.”
“Me neither.” I whispered.
We all jumped when there was a knock at the door. I slid down on the floor and scrambled to a corner while Alex opened the door.
“The king requests your presence in the throne room.” A timid voice said, and I figured that it was a servant. “He wants you to bring the lycan queen too.”
“We’ll be right there.” Alex replied curtly and shut the door.
I felt my heartbeat race and I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.
“The deadline is up.” Alex said. “It’s been two days since the negotiations.”
“He’s going to try to hurt me to get to Tyson, isn’t he?” I sighed.
“I won’t let him.” Alex replied. “I promised that I’ll keep you safe, and I’m not going to fail now.”
I stood up from the floor.
“I appreciate that.” I mumbled.
I didn’t tell him that if the king wanted to hurt me, there wasn’t much anyone could do to stop it. By the looks on their faces, it seemed like they knew that as well as I did.
“Don’t do anything stupid.” I said as Alex took a gentle hold of my arm.
“I’ll try.” He whispered.
“We’ll come with you too.” Lara said and they trailed after us down the hallway.
My heart pounded in my chest and I repeated Mater Rastin’s words in my head, trying to take my love for Tyson and lock it away where it would be protected from everything they might do to me. I didn’t know what to expect, and I reminded myself that unawareness could be your greatest enemy and not to fall for it.
When facing something unknown, it was easy to start to overthink, and I knew that if I let myself get carried away, Tyson could feel my emotions through our bond and I wanted to protect him from suffering as much as possible.
We reached the throne room and I instantly glared at King Talon. He was sitting on the throne, looking smug.
“You summoned us, father.” Alex said.
“Yes.” He said. “The lycan king hasn’t heed our demands, and it’s time for him to suffer the consequences.”
I narrowed my eyes at him.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
I decided to act stupid, careful not to reveal that Alex had already told me everything that happened during the negotiations in detail.
Talon smirked triumphantly and opened a book on the small table next to him.
“We uncovered an old book about lycan mate bonds.” He said while turning the pages. “It seems like a lycan can sense its mate’s emotions when they have marked each other.”
I frowned.
“Okay?”
“It also says that if a lycan’s mate is unfaithful, it causes excruciating pain.” Talon sneered and closed the book.
He snapped his fingers and five men approached us. My eyes widened when I recognized the man from the dungeon that had bitten me.
“Alexander.” Talon said. “Will you do the honors of defiling her?”
Alex stiffened beside me, and I saw his eyes dart between me and his father. My heart started racing in my chest as I realized what he meant.
“Is this how low we are sinking?” Alex asked. “How are we better than the lycans if we assault someone like that?”
“Don’t question me!” Talon snapped. “King Tyson has to pay the price for disobeying, and we have the perfect opportunity to do that through his mate.”
I tried to jerk my arm out of his grip, finding an excuse to turn to him. I stared at him intently and shook my head as stealthily as I could.
I was sure that Alex would do anything to be gentle with me, but I could tell that he wasn’t comfortable in having s*x with me against my will.
“She’s not my type.” Alex muttered through gritted teeth and let go of my arm.
“It’s alright.” Talon sneered. “There are others willing to do that.”
I turned to the five men stalking towards me, and was instantly taken back to the factory where I got my powers.
…If you are left without your powers for any reason, you have to be just as strong without them.
…Save the parts of you that really matter.
…If you are left without your powers for any reason, you have to be just as strong without them.
…Know your worth. Always.
After spending years wanting to unlearn everything I was taught in that factory, I was actually grateful for my training for the first time in my life.

I glared at the vampires that started slowly gathering around me, knowing there was no way for me to fight them. This was completely out of my control, and the only thing that mattered was to make sure that Tyson didn’t feel any of it.
One of them stepped behind me and moved my hair away from my neck, I recoiled away from him and they laughed.
“Nowhere to run.” He sang.
“Dad, is this really necessary?” Lara pleaded.
Talon scoffed.
“If you’re too weak to watch it, you don’t have to stay.” He muttered and gestured to the door.
I had no idea if she stayed or left. The man that had paid me a visit in the dungeon when I first got here stood right in front of me. Based on how the others were glancing at him, I figured that he was their leader or had the highest rank among them. He gave a curt nod and everything happened at once.
Two arms wrapped around my waist from behind while two men grabbed one of my wrists each. I struggled against their grip, but as I expected, I wasn’t strong enough.
The leader started to unbuckle my jeans and I gasped, forcing myself not to panic. There wasn’t anything that I could do to stop them, and a feeling of helplessness washed over me, threatening to drown me in a wave of panic.
I thought about Tyson, and I felt him getting agitated. He could sense that something was wrong. I needed to calm down.
So I thought about our first date. Even though it had been over a decade since the last time I felt the need to detach my mind from my body, it was still easy for me to do.
I remembered me and Tyson walking hand in hand together and kissing on the roof of the Big Ben.
The image clung to my mind as I felt my feet lifting from the ground. Cold air hit my legs when my jeans were ripped off of me, along with my panties.
A rough hand touched the apex of my legs and I cried out in pain and clamped my legs shut when his fingernails scraped my folds.
I was thrown to the ground, knocking the wind out of me. Immediately several pairs of hands pinned my arms and legs to the ground. Gasping for breath, I felt panic bubbling up inside me when someone’s fingers wrapped around my throat.
I glanced to the side and saw Alex stare at me in horror, and I clamped my eyes shut when I felt something press against my entrance.
I knew what came next, and I had hoped that I never had to feel that pain ever again.
