Chapter Ten The TV was huge, beautiful, and top of the line: a credit to human ingenuity and industriousness. Unfortunately what began to play out on that gigantic screen was an indictment of human brutality and evil – or at least that of the coarser half of the species. The very definition of a captive audience, Karl found himself watching a compilation of news reports: clips from local, national and even international broadcasts. One after another they followed in succession, with no interruptions for promos or commercials – thank the Goddess for that that would have been suffering indeed. In any case, each clip was a report of some asshole male accused of abusing and usually murdering the woman in his life. Some of the cases were familiar to Karl despite his normal shunning of the eve
