The desert village lit up the atmosphere above them like a whole area caught on fire. Hastily arranged lanterns and torches lit up the streets with the smell of alcohol that can be smelled anywhere. Although blazing hot during the day, this desert is cold during the night. Everyone cannot feel the cold, for their hearts have been warmed by joy and hope as well as from their dances of joy that made their bodies warmer.
Hiroki tasted his first alcohol because Jasper, Jack, and other men encouraged him to drink. "Chug! Chug! Chug!" - they cheered while surrounding him. "Yeah!!" they screamed when Hiroki finally got the bottom of the tankard up. He exhaled in dizziness and felt his chest burning. That's when someone rained alcohol on everybody. One could have his ears ringing from the screams of these men.
"You're a man now, George!" congratulated Jasper as he put Hiroki's arms over his shoulder. They walked away from the crowd with some of the men greeting them as they passed by.
"My chest burns!" cried Hiroki in pain as he slouched and squeezed his wet shirt on his chest.
Jasper laughed so hard before drinking his own liquor. "Man, this town's got to be the best place I've ever been to! Wait, where's Jackson?" He turned around and saw Jack doing a robot dance on top of a table and men encouraging him.
"Oh, man." laughed Jasper. "It seems Jack beat me up at having fun! Can you walk on your own?"
"Yes, I can." Hiroki breathed heavily.
"Are you sure that you don't want to spend more time with us? It will be fun!"
"I don't think so. I have to get away from here.... or else I will end up robot-dancing on the table with Jack."
"What's wrong with that?"
"Just let me be!"
"Okay!" replied Jasper as he let go of him and ran back to the group of men.
Hiroki saw him shaking hands with men that are far older than him but it seems that everybody treats him like a grown-up man. Hiroki walked tipsily on the uncrowded street, with few people that greeted him but he greeted back awkwardly. Then he passed by some alley - a space between the house they stayed and the neighboring house. Someone pulled him by his hand into the darkness of the narrow alley. His head is so dizzy that he didn't bother to think that he is some kind of danger or anything. He just thought about going to his warm bed but then he felt warm somewhere on his lips.
It was a village girl the same age as him and she daringly stole a kiss. She lustily said, "I want to get married to you, Sir Ito."
Hiroki eyes are closing like he's half-awake but still standing on his own two feet. "I'm still fifteen - not a legal age...." He hiccuped. "to marry."
"It's okay here in our culture," she said while touching his cheek with her soft hand. "It's even okay to have many wives at once."
"No, that's bad. Man shall only have one."
She bit her lip and kissed him again. "I know you have a very beautiful goddess but I'm sure I will be able to satisfy you every day."
Then a shadow crept over them. The girl looked up and saw the goddess on the wide sword folding her arms while steadily going down.
"My lady!" exclaimed the girl while bowing down.
Sayuri just narrowed her eyes in suspicion at her and the girl quickly turned around and walked away at a fast pace. Hiroki is still dizzy, with his forehead on the wall, and l*****g his lips (he liked the kiss from the girl).
He turned around and said, "I kinda liked that kiss, I want another one." Then spreading arms to embrace her and puckered his lips just to be punched in the face. So he kissed her knuckles. "Ow!" he cried in pain as his butt hit the floor and then he touched his bleeding lips. He looked up and felt the pain and looked up. He saw his goddess looking at him in disgust. "My lady?" Then she turned around and went through the front door of their rented house.
He instantly felt sober and felt the pain of his jaw when he yelled "Forgive me, my lady!" but she ignored him until she forcefully shut the door. He thought to himself, "I kissed her?!! I kissed a goddess?!! It can't be! Or maybe I was just imagining it! But damn, that hurts!" His lips are swelling.
The night passed quickly (as how all of the people having fun, felt) when Jasper woke up in a room full of ladies sleeping on the cushioned bed with him. As hangover as he is, he still felt quite alarmed about his situation - which he doesn't know how he got here in the first place.
"Crap," he muttered the thought: "I let my guard down." Then he saw Jack sleeping while standing and his shirt is nowhere to be found with women sleeping around his metal feet. "I never saw anyone sleep like that. I better get out of here." He transformed into a bird and quietly flew beside Jack. He transformed back into himself and tapped Jack's cheek softly. "Jackson, wake up," he whispered.
"Huh?"
"Shhh....," he hushed. "We need to get out of here now."
Jack yawned without a sound and felt hangover. "What happened?" He saw the whole room full of women. Then his eyes widened in surprise that he got a slight idea of what happened.
"Come on," waved Jasper as he tiptoed to the door. Jack followed slowly and his metal feet clanged against the floor. Jasper turned around and looked at him. He gestured with his finger on his lips then felt relieved that nobody woke up.
They went out of the living room, and they know whose house is this. It's Mustafa's home and there are a lot of sleeping people on the floor. They walked over them silently while holding their breath because everything is reeking with sweat mixed with alcohol and maybe even piss. They finally went out panting under the late morning, with the clear blue sky above them and the street full of litter. They quickly made their way to their goddess.
"Damn!" cursed Jasper while they walked. "I can't believe I let my guard down! I forgot that the fathers of the young women are willing to give their daughters to the men who helped them a great deal!"
"I feel unpleasant," said Jack while touching his head.
"That's a hangover, my friend."
Then they stopped at the front of the door of their rented house and felt an unnerving sensation. They looked at each other while sweating.
"You open it," said Jasper. Jack shook his head nervously. "Come on, don't be a wuss. Open it for a god."
Jack swallowed and hesitated. There's something wrong on the other side of this door. Like it's some kind of a monster's teeth that when you open it, you'll get devoured. He slowly held out his shiny metal hand to the doorknob. Inch by inch they felt their heartbeats getting faster. Then the doorknob got knocked off from its place from the door after a sharp katana went out of it.
"Run," said Jasper before turning into a bird.
Jack got caught by the blades and he can't move. Then Jasper got swatted by a flat side of a wide sword like a fly. He transformed back into himself as he fell and Sayuri went out of the door with Hiroki screaming in pain as she grabbed his hair then threw him on the street near Jasper. She slapped Jack and he joined the two. She stood in front of them while frowning and folding her arms. They knelt with like children getting scolded by their mother. She didn't say a thing and just looked at them furiously.
Then Jasper spoke, "I'm sorry-" then she looked at him furiously that he gulped. "my lady..." Then bowed his head.
"I'm sorry, my lady," apologized Jack.
"I'm sorry, my lady," apologized Hiroki after him.
"You three had fun with women, huh?" she spoke furiously.
"What?!" exclaimed Jasper. "Hiroki got laid-"
She slapped him that he ate sand. "Shut your mouth!" she yelled.
"Ack! I'm sorry, my lady." He knelt back into his place.
Then some of the people noticed what is happening outside. Even the fathers of the ladies got sobered up and witnessed what is happening.
She growled, "I think I will have to carve rules of righteousness on your skins so you will never forget them!"
They gritted their teeth in anxiousness.
"Starting with you, you trickster!" She glared at Jasper.
"No, please!" he pleaded as he tried to run away but she pinned him down with her foot.
"Argh!" screamed the three as she slowly neared the tip of her sword on Jasper's back.
"My lady!" called Mustafa from the distance and she stopped. "My lady!" he panted after stopping. "I'll explain on their behalf." She frowns at him as he said, "Don't blame them for what happened, my lady with due respect. It is our doing because we want our daughters to marry reliable and powerful men like them and-"
She violently sheathed her sword, kicked Jasper, hit the other two on their heads, and went back to the house. The three sighed in relief.
"Oh, man!" reacted Jasper as he stood up. "That was scary," he laughed.
"I shouldn't have drunk alcohol!" blurted Hiroki. "You forced me to do it!" he blamed Jasper.
"What? You're blaming me now?"
"Yes, I am!"
"It was just a little drink to make you a man, you should be thanking me."
"How does that make someone a man?!!"
"You got laid because of it!" laughed Jasper.
"No, I didn't!"
"What? Then why would Lady Sayuri say that the three of us-"
"I thought I kissed her last night, and I realized it was another girl."
Jasper laughed so hard that he slapped his knee. "Oh, man!"
"I think, my hangover's gone after that scare," said Jack.
Then an hour later, they approached their goddess once more, reasoned that nothing explicit happened, and apologized. She just frowned at them while leaving the house with her stuff, ready for another journey in the desert to the east. They quickly changed into their new clothes and followed behind her. The villagers helped them in preparing and watched them as they rode their camels.
Before transforming into a camel, Jasper said to Mustafa, "Would you mind telling your people in keeping our existence a secret?"
"As you wish, my lord," he answered.
Jasper nodded and transformed into a camel. The villagers were astounded to witness such a thing.
"May the desert be a friend to you," said all of the villagers as they watched the four of them went eastward until they disappeared into the horizon.
