Chapter XXV

스물 다섯 번째 왕관 (25)       “But, Your Highness, you know I never wanna marry you.” “Neither I am. You’re not even my type. You’re not that pretty to be my Royal Princess Consort,” Prince Yi Eul scoffed a sarcastic smile which made her jaw dropped and almost said ‘excuse me?’ on his face. “But as you can see, we have no escape now. The whole of South Korea already knew about us being engaged and the queen gave us one month to prepare for our wedding. If we defy her, we’ll face major consequences which include you not having your dream book debut.” Jae Kyung stared at him, dumbfounded. “Maldo andwae. No way! You can do something, right?! You’re the Crown Prince! You’re even respected by the queen! You can do something!” “If I could then, why not? But we’re talking about the queen. That will happen once we’ll gonna mess everything up,” Prince Yi Eul faced her. “There is one way for us to break free from this mess and be free.” Jae Kyung frowned at him. “What is it?” Prince Yi Eul stared at her for a while before giving her a response. “Few months after the wedding, we’ll go get a divorce.” Jae Kyung fell silent. Her face slightly twitched as soon as she heard it from the Crown Prince. “I don’t want to be with you nor with our child anymore!” “Honey, don’t leave me!” “I’m done! We’re getting a divorce!” A memory flashed in her mind that she couldn’t help but wince. “Di-Divorce?” Jae Kyung finally muttered after a half-minute of silence. “That’s the only way we can get out of this mess since Queen Jang Eun already settled everything and the whole South Korea already knew about our ‘engagement’ thingy,” Prince Yi Eul said. “Here’s the catch, Kim Jae Kyung. If you’ll be my wife for months after this incident, I could secure my throne since the queen just wants to see me getting married and settle down. As for you, anything you want to do could be possible—having a luxurious life without worrying about your rent and of course, your dream of having your first-ever book debut. Isn’t it great? It’s a win-win situation in a span of months. Six months is a long one, to be exact. We’ll do that and after securing everything and after the queen will be satisfied, we could get a divorce without disturbing the media about it. We could have a peaceful divorce after that.” “And what could possibly be the reason why we’ll get a divorce? You said it yourself; Queen Jang Eun is not an easy person to deal with, much more to be fooled. So, what will be the reason?” Jae Kyung asked as she frowned. “We fall out of love,” Prince Yi Eul shrugged. “That’s a possible reason for our divorce in the future.” “Honey, why are you leaving me? Why are you leaving us?” “I don’t love you anymore. I’m already tired of you.” “Is it really that easy? You fall in love with that person as if they meant so much to you but at the end of the day, you’ll gonna fall out of love to them?” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but mutter. “What?” Jae Kyung sighed as she looked at the Crown Prince once again. “So… you mean to say, we’ll be going to pretend for months?” “Six months. We’ll be going to pretend as husband and wife for six months. No extensions. I assure you that,” Prince Yi Eul responded. “That will be the time that your contract as my personal assistant will end as well.” For unknown reasons, Jae Kyung suddenly felt that something is piercing inside her chest. What is this again? Why did I feel this again? “I’ll help you find a job, a better job for you. I’ll secure everything for you after that six months. It’s like a token of gratitude for helping me, of course,” Prince Yi Eul said, confidently. “I could do that easily. Remember, I’m the Crown Prince. I’m the richest amongst all.” After we got caught in the middle, he’s still arrogant. “Yeah right, you are.” “So, are you going to accept your new job?” Prince Yi Eul smirked at her. “Your new job as my fake wife, Jae Kyung-ssi?” “But before that, we’ll be going to have our new contract.”       NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT   This agreement is entered as of the day after Crown Prince Yi Eul and Kim Jae Kyung will get married by and between Crown Prince Yi Eul (Receiving party) and Kim Jae Kyung (disclosing party).   The parties agree as follows: 1.0 Background 1.1  Never to talk or write about anything that will be discussed and/or described during or after the wedding.     “Huh. You really prepared on this, huh?” “It’s for legal and safety purposes, Your Highness.”     2.0 Confidentiality 2.1 The parties agree of getting married but at the night after their marriage, they will have separate rooms. 2.2 No physical contacts (hugging, holding hands, touching, etc.), unless needed. 2.3 Kim Jae Kyung will still be working as a lowkey personal assistant but still appear as Crown Prince Yi Eul’s wife in public. 2.4 No Kissing!     Prince Yi Eul raised his hand. “Hey wait. With regards to Section 2 point 4, the no-kissing part. Are you serious?” “Yes, I’m serious,” Jae Kyung responded, staring blankly at him. “You already did that two times already. You’re not my real boyfriend so I will not allow you to kiss me.” “Yah, Kim Jae Kyung!” Prince Yi Eul appealed. “How will people believe us if I’m not going to kiss you? What is it? Did I turn into a monk after marrying you? That’s absurd. People will not be going to buy it if we’ll not going to have such contact. We’re a couple, not some sort of partners.” “It’s not like we’ll gonna go PDA in front of those people,” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Okay, fine! Revise Section 2 point 4. We’ll kiss when it’s needed especially when we’re in front of the queen. That’s it! We’ll not gonna go beyond that!” “Okay, fine,” Prince Yi Eul responded and using his pencil, he revised Section 2.4 of the contract.     2.4 (No Kissing!) Kiss if the situation needs to do so (especially in front of the Queen) 2.5 The Crown Prince will help Kim Jae Kyung for her book debut before the contract and the month of pretending marriage will end Note: After the pretending marriage, the Crown Prince must ensure a job for Kim Jae Kyung because, after the said marriage, the Crown Prince will automatically terminate Kim Jae Kyung’s job as his personal assistant 2.6 Both parties will make sure that everything will go according to the plan 2.7 The fake marriage will last for only One hundred (100) days or Six (6) months. No extensions 2.8 After the said days or months duration of the marriage, both parties will agree to get a divorce silently for the media not to meddle about it and will agree that they will not be going to see each other anymore 2.9 Both parties will NEVER, EVER FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER     “Wow, you really emphasized this part, huh?” Prince Yi Eul was trying his best not to laugh. “Of course, I want my future relationship real. I want to fall in love for real and not because I’m into some sort of pretending drama club,” Jae Kyung responded. “So you’re still dreaming about someone will sweep your feet and catch you when you fall in love?” “Of course.” “Pfft., hopeless romantic.” “It’s not that bad! Stop teasing me!”     2.9 This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect and supersedes all prior understanding, proposals, negotiations and communications, oral or written between the parties.   IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being the daily authorized representative of the parties, have executed this Agreement below effective as of the effective date.   Kim Jae Kyung (Disclosing Party) Sign: Crown Prince Yi Eul (Receiving Party) Sign:     “Please sign, Your Highness,” Jae Kyung said. Prince Yi Eul nodded and using his fountain pen, both Jae Kyung and Prince Yi Eul signed the contract. After doing so, Jae Kyung’s gaze settled on Prince Yi Eul and outstretched her hand for a handshake. “It’s been a pleasure to work with you for six months, Prince Yi Eul. Please take good care of me.” Prince Yi Eul snorted and smirked as he accepted her hand for a handshake. “Of course, you’re dealing with the Crown Prince, Kim Jae Kyung-ssi.”
