Chapter 4

School was the same as usual bul.lshit. Aeron came and talked to me a few times throughout our classes. The teachers still gave me hell. I still gave them an attitude. It was just a normal day. Hera was talking with this college guy we met a few weeks back. She was going to go running around town with him this evening. This way, if I needed to leave, she could get to me faster and she wanted to get laid. I was pissed off because his friend was hot and might have been a good fu.ck if I didn’t have to go deal with this. Hera was sweet enough to drop me off at my house. Sure enough, Sierra’s car was in the driveway. Rolling my eyes, I headed up to our apartment. Walking in, I slammed the door and headed straight for my room. “Evelyn Kyle! Your behavior is absolutely unacceptable and I will not tolerate it anymore.” She yelled. “Sierra, you don’t tolerate it, because you aren’t around it all the time. You have no right to say sh.it.” I pointed out blankly. “You will address me as mom or mother.” She yelled. “No, I won’t. Those are earned titles. Not mandated.” I knew calling her by her first name was going to set her off, but it was fun watching her get all mad. “Evelyn, you get over here. We need to talk!” She yelled. “I’m busy!” I yelled back. She did not give a verbal response. She just came charging up the stairs. I could have cared less. This was not our first fight and it won’t be our last. Storming into my room, she stood behind me fuming. “What do you want, Sierra?” I asked, as I brushed my hair. Looking at her through the mirror. “You need to fix your attitude. My husband and your new step-brother will be here in half an hour!” She yelled. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I wasn’t. This is not the first time this has been sprung on me. We were at round 2 or 3 of this cr.ap. “Well, looks like you better get cleaning.” I pointed out. “Oh, hell no! This is all your mess. YOU are cleaning it up NOT me!” “Well, Sierra, if you take a look around. Everything that is a mess is YOURS. My mess is always cleaned up, because I don’t live like a slob.” At that I stopped paying attention. She was going to cuss me out and yell, but if she really wanted it done, she was going to go do it herself. Rather than being a “lady of the house”, Sierra ordered take out and just put it on our plates. It was quite comical. She was better on her back than she was anywhere else. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. I watched a few episodes of my show while she ran around acting crazy. “Evelyn, put on something nice. You look like a wh.ore.” She stood in my doorway. Rolling my eyes, I looked up at her. “I’m at least an attractive wh.ore.” I gave her a half smile. At that she screamed and walked away. I heard the doorbell ring, but ignored it. If Sierra wanted to have a good night, it would be in her best interest to leave me alone while they are here. My clothes were feeling super restricted so I went ahead and changed into baggy pj bottoms that fell a little low on my hips, but I didn’t care. And I put on a white spaghetti strap shirt that pretty much only covered my t**s. Since I got this shirt years ago, my t**s have gotten much larger. It used to fit nicely, but now it is my lazy shirt. Smelling the food made my stomach growl in protest. Which meant I had to go down to the happy family that was playing house in my kitchen. Jumping up from my bed, I headed to the kitchen. Right outside the kitchen sat Sierra and a pretty good-looking guy. He doesn’t look anything like what she normally brings home. Usually, they look like homeless dirt bags. He had salt and pepper hair, with an eloquent mustache. The dark grey suit he was wearing hugged his muscular arms. If I was into guys much older than myself, I would be interested in him, but I just wasn’t. His eyes were piercing green. I nodded my head in acknowledgement of his presence. “Howard, this is my daughter, Evelyn.” She tried sounding sweet. It was sickening. “It’s nice to meet you, Evelyn.” His voice was deep. “It’s Eve and sure.” I was short with him as I got my own food. “Evelyn, don’t be rude!” Sierra scolded. I gave her a nasty look. “You really wanna test me?” I asked, c*****g my brow. I didn’t care who was in the house. I will be a b***h any day, any second, every day. “It’s fine. This has to be hard for her.” He tried comforting her. “No, you're just not the first one and you won't be the last,” I said pointedly. That seemed to irritate him. I smiled like a Cheshire cat. I was going to royally rock this one. “You’re number 4, no 5…” “Evelyn!” My mom yelled. I snickered, grabbed my food and headed upstairs. Looking at the time, I saw I had about an hour before I needed to leave. Knowing Hera, I had better check she remembered. I gave her a call, but she immediately ignored the call. A second later, I got a text. Hera: s*x busy. Sorry I had a feeling. By no means was I upset. One of us had to get some. This just means I need to get ready and head out now rather than later. Instead of having Sierra figure out where I work, I grabbed my work clothes and stuffed them into my backpack. Changing my clothes, I headed towards the front door. “Where are you going, Evelyn?” Sierra asked. “Ou…” I knocked into a body. Pretty hard. Looking up, I saw those eyes I had seen earlier. Moving them up and down his body, I looked Aeron in the eyes. Confusion was written all over my face as I stared at him, trying to figure out why he was in my house. “Hey new step sis.” He smiled maliciously. Oh great….
