My mother blinked her eyes a few times and then opened her eyes. When she saw me her eyes widened with shock.
"Bairn lassie?" my mother whispered roughly. (Translation: Baby girl?)
"Aye, mama, it's ah. Ah hae missed ye sae muckle, bit it's a'richt noo. A'm 'ere noo mama." I sniffled as I wiped more tears from my cheeks. (Translation: Yes, Mama, it is I. I have missed you so much, but it is alright now. I'm here now mama.)
She reached out for me and held me close to her as we both sobbed uncontrollably. She looked over my shoulder at my Dad.
"Mah loue, whit hae ye dane? ye ken howfur dangerous it's tae hae her 'ere. Ah'ament sure ah wull be able tae haud back muckle langer." she said cautiously. (Translation: My love, what have you done? You know how dangerous it is to have her here. I'm not sure I will be able to hold back much longer.)
I pulled away and looked at my parents in confusion.
"Ye wantit tae see her as she did ye. Some hings ur mair important than him. We wull deal wi' that th'gither whin 'n' if that time comes. Noo hush 'n' gilravage th' time ye hae wi' oor bonny princess." my dad said sternly, but I could hear the love in his voice. (Translation: You needed to see her as she did you. Some things are more important than him. We will deal with that together when and if that time comes. Now hush and enjoy the time you have with our beautiful princess.)
My mom just nodded but her lip tightened with annoyance.
"Whit ur th' twa o' ye gaun oan aboot? howfur is it dangerous tae come see mah parents 'n' wha is him? whit ur th' twa o' ye hiding fae me?" I said with confusion. (Translation: What are the two of you going on about? How is it dangerous to come see my parents and who is him? What are the two of you hiding from me?)
They exchanged glances with each other and then nodded their heads in agreement
My father left the room and locked the door behind him. My mother began singing softly to me and my eyes began to get heavy with sleep. "Gae ti bed wi th' lamb an rise wi th' laverock mah bonny princess, dinnae ye worry aboot anythin'. Ye wull mind hee haw o' whit yer da 'n' ah wis saying. Kip noo, mah princess 'n' everything wull be as it shuid whin ye wake up efter. Kip, mah princess, kip." she sang with a trance-like voice. (Translation: Go to sleep my beautiful princess, don't you worry about anything. You will remember nothing of what your dad and I was saying. Sleep now, my princess and everything will be as it should when you wake up later. Sleep, my princess, sleep.)
I curled next to my mom and fell asleep as I listened to her sing. It didn't even cross my mind until it was too late that she said I wouldn't remember her and dad talking about him. Whoever he was.
Was it Garrett?
Then everything went black.

"Addison? I can feel you are close. Come to me, my love. Come to me." said Garrett's voice softly but with an urgency in his voice.
I opened my eyes and yawned as I stretched my arms. I was laying down in my bed, but I didn't remember coming here. That's strange.
"Addison," Garrett's voice said again more firmly.
I inhaled sharply and looked around frantically for him, but he was nowhere. It was like his voice had been carried through the wind to get to me.
I was probably just imagining his voice, so I sat up in my bed then leaned over to the window and opened it so I could look outside. The air was so clear and refreshing here in Scotland. I sighed with contentment, but out of nowhere, I could hear something from a distance, I could hear a song or something being played.
My mind began to get blurry and it felt as if my body was being controlled by some unknown force. I felt like I was in some sort of trance-like state. My feet moved on their own accord as they directed me out of my window into the night.
I could vaguely hear my phone ringing but shook the thought away when I heard his voice again.
"Addison. That's right, my sweet girl, come to me." Garrett's voice said soothingly, "Just follow my voice and I will bring you back to where you belong. With me."
My mind felt the comfort of his words and quickened my steps. I didn't understand why I was doing it or where I was going, but it felt like it was the right thing to do.
I kept walking until I came to a cave in a mountain. I walked through and gasped out loud. There was a garden in this cave. It was so beautiful in there, I felt like a princess in there.
There were flowers upon flowers upon flowers in every direction. Every shape, size, and color you could imagine. I was awestruck by the beauty of this place. How did I never know about this garden growing up? I would have been here every single day.
I noticed a light reflecting off the ground and tilted my head slightly. I walked slowly towards it and leaned down to look. There on the ground was a small necklace that was shining so brightly. I hesitantly reached out to grab it but at the last minute, I pulled away.
This was someone else's necklace, I shouldn't touch it.
"Addison. Pick up the necklace. It belongs to you, my sweet girl. It was my gift to you before you disappeared and left me alone six years ago. I want you to have it back. Pick it up Addison so that we may be together again." Garrett said sternly, but I could tell he was nervous.
Don't ask me how, but I could sense it from him. I leaned down and against my better judgment, I picked up the necklace.
As soon as my hand touched the necklace I felt this strong power consume me whole and all of a sudden I saw Garrett's face in my memories.
I gasped sharply and tears fell uncontrollably down my face.
I remembered him.
I remembered everything.
Then I tensed immediately when I felt a slight tap on my shoulder.
I turned around and my eyes widened in surprise.
"Hello, sweet girl. Welcome back. I have been waiting for you."
There stood Garrett directly in front of me and he didn't look very happy.
I felt my body sway from the dizziness I suddenly felt and then Garrett lunges for me as I fall to the ground
Soon my mind is flooded with flashbacks from my childhood.
Then everything goes black.
