Chapter 5
Emma
After school, the girls want to go to the mall. I agree because I want a latte. I have serious caffeine issues.
The girls and I ride in my car. I love my car, it's green and cute. At first, I didn't like driving, since my dad died in a car accident. But when I got used to it, I loved it and it's good to have a car. You've got so much more freedom with a car and driver's license.
"Are the guys coming after football practice?" I ask. They don't really like going to the mall and walk-in stores with us girls. I don't really like shopping all that much but once in a while I do enjoy it.
"Yeah Lucas said they would", Julia says.
I hope Carter doesn't come with. I would not want to be seen with him in a mall.
I pull up at the mall's big parking lot. As soon as we get into the mall, we run for the coffee shop. We all buy our lattes and start walking around.
"Oh my god! Emma, you have to buy this!" Julia suddenly exclaims and stops outside a store. She's pointing at something. I look at what she's pointing at. She's pointing at an orange tight dress. It's actually really beautiful.
"Hm..." I say and throw my coffee cup into a trash can before walking into the store. At the very least I could take a closer look at the dress.
The girls follow me. I look more closely at the dress. It is beautiful. I take it and walk to the fitting room. The girls are waiting excited outside. I try on the dress. I walk out of the fitting room. The girl’s mouths drop to the floor and they look at me with big eyes.
"Doesn't it look good?" I ask, starting to doubt if I should buy it or not.
"No, it looks amazing on you!" Julia says. "You look so hot in that dress!"
"Really?" I ask and turn to the mirror.
The dress is orange and tight, it forms after my curves, it's glittery at the cleavage and it shows off my boobs a lot.
I like it. It looks good.
"Okay I'll buy it", I say. I don't buy clothes a lot, only when it's necessary, but a dress this beautiful I have to buy, I mean sometimes I have to invest in myself.
I walk back into the fitting room to change back into my clothes. I walk back out to the girls who are smiling big. "You're weird", I say as I walk to stand in the line to pay for the dress.
"Oh, we know but you love us", Sophia smiles like a goof.
Yeah, something's going on. But I don't want to know what it is. I pay for the dress and we walk out of the store.
"Hey girls!" I turn around to see Lucas and Gavin come walking towards us.
"Where did you leave the others?" Mia asks kissing Gavin’s cheek.
"They're coming", Gavin says.
I link my arm with Julia's and lean my head on her shoulder. Lucas starts to get his puppy eyes showing in his eyes.
"Luke..." I start.
"Please kiss!" He says. "It would be a dream come true!"
What is it with guys wanting to see girls kiss? Are they turned on by seeing it?
"No!" I say. I like telling him no. A kiss between Julia and I wouldn't be a big deal, we simply say no because we know how much he wants to see us kiss.
"Please please please please!" He begs. "Kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss..."
"Alright!" I shout wanting him to shut up. I can't take his nagging, he's like a child.
I turn my fan towards Julia; I grab her face and give her a big tongue kiss. When I pull away, I see that the other boys have arrived. Carter is sliding up his sunglasses on top of his head. He raises his right eyebrow. Lucas on the other hand looks like he just became a millionaire.
"Happy?" Julia asks him.
"So happy", he says with the biggest smile someone can achieve.
I roll my eyes. As I said, he's a child.
"Boys are stupid", I say. "What did you get out of that?"
"You don't want to know", he says still smiling like a goofball.
Oh. No ew.
"Luuucas", I whine.
"You asked!" He says.
Ugh.
"That was pretty hot", Carter says.
I roll my eyes again. Boys are stupid. It's not like us girls would ask boys to kiss just to turn us on. Girls have to be smarter.
We start walking around the mall again. Suddenly two men come running towards us. One with a pad and pen and another with a camera. Great.
"John! Is this your friends? How are they treating you? Are they being nice? Is this girl your new enemy?" The journalist babbles. "When are you going to answer our questions?"
"When pigs fly", Carter says smiling a false smile at the journalist.
"I didn't know you could fly!" I say looking at him.
"Emma!" Julia says.
We start to run away from the two men. We run up to the other floor of the mall. I hope they don't follow us. But I don't think they are because they would already be here. Either we shook them off or they just didn't care enough to follow us.
I hate this. If Lucas is insisting on having Carter in the group, we'll be dealing with this all the time. I don't want that. I want to stay normal. I don't want to be seen as the girl who hates John Carter over the whole country. This sucks.
