Anna opened the door wider and let Kane in. It felt weird seeing him in this space that she’s considered hers for the past few days.
He looked calmer, now that he had told her everything he had to say, strangely enough, that tension that always seemed to linger in the air lessened.
That was until he stopped walking and looked at her.
That predatory gaze was enough to weaken her knees and make her heart jump.
“I’ll make it as painless as possible,” Kane said and gestured her forward.
Anna gave a tight-lipped smile and closed the door behind her. It locked with a soft click and somehow managed to sound like the loudest bell. The silence was thick and tension high, Anna still fisted the dress in her hands in an attempt to distract or calm her nerves.
