Epilogue
“That was awesome,” Damien says, nibbling at Patrick’s ear.
“Uh.” Patrick pulls back. For three months now, Damien’s been with him every step of the way. It has been six months since he was released from the institution, but he’s still sometimes uneasy with their closeness. To make it worse, Damien loves being close with him. “What was awesome? Me?”
“Yeah, absolutely.” Damien tousles his hair.
“Hey!”
“All right, you too. But what I meant is Cat Ballou.”
“Really?” Patrick grins but he feels his face flush. “I told you you’d love it. And you loved the dance.”
“Totally.”
“It was my dad’s favorite movie.”
Damien sobers up. “Why didn’t you tell me before? That explains why you brought it along with you in your darker time.”
There is a pause then, “I didn’t realize it myself,”
