To Run Away Again

Ethan Pov... I want to rest and enjoy the rest of the month being with my sister. I miss her so much and want to make amends for those years we missed in her life. She wouldn't have become tough like this if she hadn't had a terrible survival. I know how silly and stubborn she is. I know there is something the naked eye can't foresee. "Honey! How can we patch things to help your sister? We need to do something before it will get worse." My wife suggested. I faced her, caressing her lovely face. Her smile gives me enough courage and peace beside my sister. "I want to hon, but my sister has changed a lot. She wasn't the same little girl that I used to carry on my back though she is still clumsy, always falling on her knees." I implied. The situation isn't like a child who loses her doll. I need to know the whole truth from when it started. " Just a little worried about them. They were a perfect lovely couple. " She muttered teary - eyed. " I know honey. I didn't have any ill feelings towards Stefano for the years they were together. She protected my sister and gave everything to make my sister the happiest woman." I clarified, recalling those days I saw them happy together. Their ups and downs didn't ruin them but helped them to understand what a relationship was. How they meant to each other. I supported everything for them. Seeing her happy was my happiness. Now, I'm saddened that she closes every door to everything, especially with Stefano. I wish her to see what she misses rather than what is blinding her. I looked at my lovely woman asleep. Thank you baby for thinking of my sister. I fell asleep thinking where to start. We both woke up startled by the huge ruckus in the house. " Honey, wake up! What is going on?" She asked muffled. "I don't know. What time is it?" I mumbled while putting on my robe before running downstairs, but my steps faltered, looking at them. " Margaret, please stay for a while. I miss you so much darling." My mom cried, pleading to my sister packed up, ready to leave while my father was gripping the door tightly. "Mom, I'm sorry, but I will definitely visit you soon. I just have work waiting for me." My sister replied firmly, not leaving any room to bargain. I collected myself. I took a step closer to them, unhappy, didn't see my wife following behind me. She became selfish and heartless, not even considering our parents' feelings. She wasn't around for 6 years, never bothered to send a simple message about how she was or how our parents were doing. What are we to her then? "Margaret." I uttered dejected, staring at her unbelievably. "E-Ethan!" She replied, stuttering. The look on her surprised face was interesting. She was eager to leave and had no plan to say anything to me again, but she was caught off guard. "Why? Why are you eager to leave? We are your family, Margaret! This is not just about Stefano!" I asked, raising my voice, emphasizing every word. I restrained myself from bursting into anger. "Ethan!" She tried to console me,but I was already beyond pissed. "Don't call me brother again if you will just leave us like this. If this is just about losing your job there, then there are a lot of jobs available here for you. We have our own company too, needing your assistance! Mom and dad are already old running the business when you should help. You want a hotel job, we also have here? What is the difference between London and Arizona besides the name? Is there a valid reason for you to exchange us with your work in London?" I complained, still restraining myself to completely turn the house upside down early in the morning. "Ethan!.." Before I could add more, Vicky stopped me adding fuel to the fire. It's just 3 am but we are arguing instead of peacefully sleeping under our comforters to warm up our bodies. "I'm sorry Ethan. It's not what you think. It's just-" She can't continue what she wants to tell us. Mumbling and rumbling, pacing back and forth in front of us. "Then what is it, Margaret? I told you we could help you, whatever it is. You can also ask Vicky's help if that is about girl things. Do you think we are just ignoring things around you? No, were not Margaret, but I guess our sympathy for you is already long overdue! First of all, no one knows what exactly happened that day. You left the same day, ignoring our pleas clouded with your anger and jealousy. What if what you saw on that video was a lie? What if there is something behind those videos?" I implied, cornering her. It wasn't my plan to put her in this situation, but things are going sideways without any proof. Who doesn't want the truth anyway? Everyone suffered because of that big news! But then, all of a sudden, it dies easily just like nothing happens, burying everything. No one dared to ask about it again. "W-What are you trying to say here?" She asked, confused. "If there is no reason for you to go back in a hurry, find the truth with your own eyes, not what people tell you. Unless you are already married now! There is no use opening a wound that is starting to heal." I blurted out of nowhere. Her eyes bulge like saucers looking at me. "I'm not married! Why would I get married?" She answered defensively when she can just say yes or no! "Then stay! If you insist on leaving and hurt mom again, I swear forget about us!" I clarified before running upstairs. She was left dumbfounded. Sorry Margaret, but I need to become fierce this time if it's the only way to let you stay. I don't want to see mom suffer again like 6 years ago. "Ethan!" She blurted surprised. She knows how soft my heart towards her. I never screamed nor scolded her. I always take care of her like a baby.
