Margaret Pov..
My brother is dashing groom with his blue suit while he ties his hair exposing his perfect chiseled face. Vicky is also gorgeous as always illuminating the crowd. I watched in awe sweeping the crowd. So, this is how to marry a famous personality. For me, it doesn’t matter if I’ll be walking the aisle wearing an expensive designer gown with famous celebrities or well-known personalities clapping and congratulating. I just want to be simple and be with the person I love, but that thing isn’t part of my dream.
I’m jubilant looking at my beloved brother settling for the next chapter of his life. Mom and dad were teary - eyed talking and kept hugging Ethan. I’m happy for you, my dear brother. He is a cute giant bear lovely protecting his bride. I sighed, feeling envious. Soon, Margaret, you will have the one truly destined for you. I muttered to myself, still engrossed in their lovey – dovey. I suppressed my tears, because I didn’t want to ruin my make - up.
I walked holding my gown going towards my dashing big brother, brightly smiling at his gorgeous wife. This occasion is intimidating, making me cringe a little. Pull yourself together Margaret, this isn’t about you! I scolded myself again while keeping a smile on my face. Urgh! This isn’t my cup of tea!
“Congratulations Ethan!” I greeted them hugging my brother. I can’t help shedding a tear. He is now moving to the next level of his life. It is difficult for those who aren’t happy and beautiful for those who are thrilled and have a perfect picture of a love story to start. There you go again, pitying yourself.
“Thanks Margaret.” He replied, thrilled and delighted.
“You are not leaving yet, right? You promised to stay for a while. Vicky is excited about meeting you.” He asked, whispering. I shook my head, winking at him before looking at his now gorgeous wife busy interacting with their guest.
“I am not Ethan. Promise to stay here for another month. I am just tired and want to leave early if you don’t mind. Please send my regards to your lovely wife!“ I replied, weary.
I immediately tossed my long gown and pulled my heels off to move faster, eager to leave the venue when I stumbled on someone’s grip accidentally. I bit my lip startled.
“Easy sweetheart. Be careful!” He uttered. I froze, unable to move, stuck in his arms fully holding my cold body. I knew that voice!
“Are you alright Miss?” He asked, puling me off to my senses, stumbling, struggling to get off his grip to stand properly. I felt my body tense abnormally as my palms started to sweat. I can also hear my heart stomping faster. I bowed down to say sorry, don’t want to meet his gaze.
I turned my heels and ran off still trembling. I thought 6 years was enough, but why do I still tremble when he is near? Why can’t I forget the feelings? I am already better since I left. Are you really better, Margaret? My conscience chastised.
Whatever, I need to leave this place this instant. Bumping with him again is already dangerous. The feelings are turning the page unexpectedly, even though the excruciating pain is still on the front page.
My purpose for visiting was to bond with my family, which I surely missed, and for my brother’s wedding not to meet him! Wait! Why is he here? Stefano, please don’t make our world too small. I can't afford to reminisce about yesterday!
I tossed my stuff in the back seat of my car when another unexpected person bumped into me. I sighed desperately! What a beautiful day to have then! I muttered, turning my back to meet the villain. I almost collapsed staring at my estranged best friend. Why can’t my day be as perfect as my brother’s? Why do I need to meet them both on the same day I should be the happiest? Why does nothing go the way I wanted? Sometimes, I want to follow my instinct. I feel a burden leaving the house this morning. Now, I get the reason why I feel vulnerable.
She was shocked, staring back mouth agape. She tried to speak but no words were coming out of her mouth. While she stumbled on herself, I managed to compose myself. I closed my back door and walked to the driver's side when she finally spoke. I hissed, stopping to grab the door.
“Margaret!” She called, stuttering. I stopped in my tracks but didn’t look back.
“If you are not in a hurry, can we catch up!” She suggested, but still I didn’t budge.
“You came back?” She uttered elated, but I didn’t answer her back.
“I’m glad you are fine.” She continued. I tilted my head, biting my lip in annoyance. I closed my eyes before facing her. She is still the same. Still gorgeous and flattering, though.
“Thanks! Glad you are also fine as I can see you are perfectly intact.” I replied with a fake smile. If she isn’t naïve she will get my point, answering her sarcastically. I don’t have time to recap the old times since she was the reason why I left.
I immediately grabbed the door of my car and immediately started the engine. I didn’t look back or even glance at my side mirror where she was standing. Better that way. I might vent everything to her and this is not the right time and the right place.
I sighed desperately, punching the stirring wheel, accidentally punched the honk button, startling me to make the car wiggle aggressively. Margaret, pull yourself together! I knocked at myself. I cried, stopping at the nearest layby. This is too much for two days in a row. God, should you make my comeback memorable, not this unbearable. I do love surprises, but these surprises won’t surpass my nerve. I regret coming back, all the memories of buried yesterday are starting to pile up unknowingly.
