Seth POV:
“Alpha, there have been Rouges spotted in a town half a mile from the pack lands”, my Beta Morton said.
“How many are there?”, I asked starting to get pissed off.
“Their numbers are unknown Alpha”, he said.
“FIND OUT…I WILL NOT HAVE ROUGES NEAR MY LANDS!”
“The problem is Alpha that they are not only active at night but there are active during the day as well”, what Morton said shocked me.
“Rouges normally are active a night what would they run around in the day risking getting seen”
“From our intelligence, they are in human form during the day and in their wolf form at night.
“And what are they doing in the day?”, I asked in amusement, once a wolf become rouge they normally don’t shift to their human form.
“It seems they are hunting women to take a night. They find a woman during the day take in her scent and when night comes track her and take her”, Morton said.
“But why take human women and risk drawing the attention of Hunters?”, it doesn’t make sense.
“Because human women can get pregnant every nine months unlike, she-wolves”
“So, their numbers must be shrinking”, I said as a statement, not a question.
“Yup, it seems so they might be breeding them”
“I want a curfew set in place no one outside after dark and double the security at the borders”
“But sir you have a camping trip planned with Danny”,
“I have to cancel it”
“He is going be pissed”, Morton said
“I know”, my son will throw a tantrum.
“He does have a temper I wonder where he gets that from”, Morton said with a smirk.
After talking to Morton, I grab a glass of whiskey and think of how I am going to tell Danny we can’t go camping tomorrow. I hate Rouges they took my mate from me, what a woman she was. She was a warrior we fought side by side in every battle as the only girl out of ten boys she was tough. The day I lost her was the best and worst day of my life. Most Alphas would tell their mates to hide with the other women and children, but not me my Luna never listen to my request. Lost in my thoughts I didn't hear my little Alpha enter my office.
“Hey little Alpha”, I say with a smile.
“Dad, I am not a baby nor am I little. I am bigger than other kids my age”, he says with a serious tone. He is so much like his mother.
“That because you are a little Alpha…. Alphas are always bigger than other wolves”, I say as I pick him up and sit him on my desk.
“Then I should be called big alpha”, he says with a smile.
“Nope, that my title”, I say with a laugh.
I explained to him why we could not go camping he is so mature for his age, a gift he also gets from his mother. Once our conversation is over, he goes to train with some of the warriors. I study the map of the surrounding area and notice that the Rouges are getting closer to my border. The town they migrated to is ten miles from the west side of my lands. It pissed me off that we don’t know who is in charge of them, their numbers, and what is their plan. We know they are taking human women and cattle; however, they are taking them in large numbers that it soon will be noticeable to Hunters. I personally have mixed feelings about Hunters, there are some that hunt the supernatural kind because they can, some hunt in order to protect.
Bastet POV:
Looking at the report that was made for the mission. However, I have no idea who prepared this damn report it is missing multiple pieces of information. The person who prepared the report missed a lot of needed information as well as there is no signature on it, so I have no idea who the hell prepared it. Refusing to go into this surveillance mission blind I call a team meeting, I need the information missing as well as who the hell made this useless report. One by one all of my men took their seats, John, to my left as my third and McKee to my right as my second. I am extremely pissed and it is written all over my face, lack of information can mean life or death for my team and/or failure or success of the mission.
“Gentlemen we are going on a surveillance mission in a small-town name Essenza”, I say as I throw the file on the table.
“What is the population there”, McKee says.
“That's a good question, I have no idea because it is not in the report”, I watch as San picks up the report and read it.
“Who the f**k made this report”, he says while pushing the report towards McKee.
“We can’t leave until I have a full report. McKee, please have a completed report in my hand within the hour”, I say trying to calm down.
“No problem Bas, I will get right on it”, he says as he leaves the room. I unknowingly stare at him in aww when he called me Bas. It wasn’t until I heard John clear his throat didn’t, I realized what I have done.
“I expect whoever made that bullshit ass report to confess within 15 minutes, you are dismissed”, I say with frustration.
“Bastet”, I hear John say my name.
“What John”, I say rubbing my temples not looking at him”
“It was me I prepared the report”, I lift my head and looked at him.
“John, we have unlimited resource you could have gotten the info you needed for the report if you would have just asked. Next time if you don’t know something ask”, I say as he leaves the room.
I love John very much but when I am in leadership mode, he is John my third, not John my boyfriend. Sitting in my chair I think about the conversation Jason and I had. It feels so weird calling him Jason to me. But I have to say when it comes to business, he has never let me down, even when he is pissed at me. Lost in my thought I didn’t hear the door open a glass of amber liquid was at eye level, I follow the hand all the way to the face and it was Jason.
“You look like you need this”, he says with a smile.
“Thanks, Ja…. McKee”, I say blushing.
“The report is finished”, he says as he hands it to me.
“That was quick”, I say as I open the folder and sip on the whisky.
After reading the report I called another meeting. As everyone walk in, I am e-mailing ordering the supplies needed for our mission, we will leave at first light.
“Okay gentlemen I got the information we need; we are going to a small town named Essenza. Population ten thousand which is the population after the ten girls were reported missing. The closest pack to the town is Dragon Moon Pack, which is half of a mile west of the town. The Dragon Moon Pack sits on a thousand acres of land, satellite shows there are a small number of buildings on the land”, I say pointing to a map of the area.
“If there is a pack so close to the town why aren’t the pack stopping them”, John asked.
“Because most packs don’t interfere unless their pack is directly affected”, Jason replied.
“Nevertheless, we need all eyes open we could be surrounded by both, and therefore we will not make camps in the woods. Since the town is small for us to go unnoticed, we will tourism as our cover”
“And what kind of tourism would we say we are there to do?”, San asked.
“Wildlife”, Jason said.
“Good one McKee”, San said while everyone laughs, everyone besides John.
“Alright meeting is over go and get some sleep we leave at first light”, I say as I watch everyone leaves.
